Payback Broken?

Back when I was a kid my mom would sing songs to help me fall asleep. Now in days, I go on rampages in payback on my GP2X :) I was doing that last night, when the battery low indicator came up. I continued to play, until the game suddenly quit, which I'd imagine indicated that the battery was too low to safely play. Fortunately, I had a fresh set of charged batteries available, and switched them in. I turned the GP2X on, selected payback, and got to the loading screen, but then it suddenly quit back to the menu. I tried it again with the same results. Reseting or taking out the SD card did not help. New batteries did not help. I tried playing the Vektar demo on the NAND, and that worked fine. My actual version of Vektar works as well. Yet payback still quits on the loading menu every time I try and play.

What's going on????

likely some sort of file write was taking place when the GP2x ran out of power and thus a file is corrupted that is causing an error on loading and payback is responding to this error by quitting.

That would explain the corruption, but I was in the middle of the game so why would it need to write to the SD card?

It could be the SD card itself that's gone bananas!

Is it the built-in demo that came with the Value Pack? Try downloading the demo and playing from SD card.
Is the demo on SD card? Delete and reinstall.
Is it a purchased fullversion? No idea.

ignoring "low power" while working with sd cards is bad
try a "disk-scan" for the sd-card .. probably you`ll find out something

If it's going to be messing with the SD card throughout the game, shouldn't I avoid turning off the GP2X altogether and would have to quit out of the game every time I wanted to end it?

No warranty info on the box, so I'd assume there is none :(

It's the commercial version unfortunately, though maybe I should try the demo just for the heck of it *shrugs*

Error-Checking in XP acts like there's no problems.

Maybe the shop you bought it from offers warranty or you can get it replaced?

I tried updating payback to version 1.1, still doesn't work. I guess I'll send the store I bought it from an email later today if nobody can come up with any other suggestions.

Is this the DRM causing the quit after loading? Does anyone know when the payback SD check occurs? It's possible the SD cards ID has become corrupted for some reason.

If it finds extra files on the card it triggers DRM. Turn on the "view hidden files" option and make sure nothing is there that shouldn't be. If something is there, deleting it should fix it. It worked for me when I attempted to put some files on there because my other SD card had broken (the other sd has since been replaced).

This worked! I wonder how those hidden files got there though :\ Thanks for the help!
