For the uninitiated.. it's a fantastic little free to play ARPG (shh.. better than Diablo III imho)

It most definitely isn't pay to win.. the vast majority of things to buy are cosmetic features for skills/pets/animations/items etc here's the shop

Anybody who has even a passing interest in these types of games owes it to themself to check it out.

I played the beta some moths ago, such a great game, I am really happy that they released 1.0, I am downloading it via Steam at this moment.

We need more games with this business model (League Of Legends, Path of Exile)   :)

Please not. :(

I was one of the guys that played Diablo 1 for many years, waited patiently for Diablo 2 while watching videos and playing the demo,

bought it on "Day 2" (asap) and was happy. I do not want this free to play stuff where people play different versions.

Just buy a good game and play it without an alterations if you pay or not or online-bondage -  the good old days....

PS: Titan Quest is still my favourite hack'n'slay.

I played Diablo 1+HF and 2+LoD too,

What I mean was, LoL and PoE are not pay to win games, you can buy only cosmetic changes like skins, and especially PoE have such a nice skill and economy systems, you should try it :)

Someone who played Hellfire. :)

I liked the addon too, although it was from Sierra and totally overlooked by many.

I tried LoL thoroughly and did not like it at all.

If it's a good game, I pay gladly for it, so why this whole fishy stuff anyway?

Anyway: Path of Exile looked promising two years ago and it's nice to see some competition for Blizzard anytime.

Enjoying the game tremendously. If you haven't tried, you're missing out on something great.

Little? LITTLE?     Even now with "only" 3 Acts it's already "bigger" than Diablo 3, not only the content but especialy the depth, the itemization, the Skill tree...uh "Skill forest", I play it since open Beta (January 2013) and I can say it's fun but even in softcore pretty much a hardcore game.

Besides the annoying trading it has a interesting economy system, yes. (I play solo/selffound and do not trade, makes the game even harder). Trading atm sucks or it's only for pure oldschool hardcore gamers that like to spent hours in the trading channels to trade their stuff. You can also link items in the forums and make trading channels there but it's still time eating because there is no "offline" trading (yet).

The blingbling cosmetic microtransactions are really not P2W, just annoying all these pimped people in the towns.    I spent also some real money in PoE but only to get more stash tabs for my shared stash. One of the very few transactions that effect the game a little bit. Now I have 11 tabs instead of 4, I just collect to many garbage. ^^

Game is amazing, for a while. It gets really boring once you're in the 50's.
Boring?    Ok, can get boring but not with Level 50, that's not even close to the Endgame and with the right build it's fun as hell. Running high level endgame custom maps starts so around Level 66+, OK, I don't do endgame maps much, not that rewarding for solo players. But in partys you can loot a ton out of maps, PoE is designed for party play and one of my critique points of the game (soloing is much harder than partying in there).

The new Patch that completed Act 3 and is now the 1.0 Version of the game also brought some big changes in skills and the passive skill tree.  I have to rethink my builds now, running 6 Auras with my Witch for example is not possible anymore (each aura now costs 60% of your Mana, even with Mana reduction gems/passives this is just to much).

But anyways, so or so you should try PoE, I recommend skill and build guides to make it easier, beginners can also benefit from the infos on the website and an good wiki that explains alot.

Aargh. So bucking fizzy at the moment don't even have time to play with my Pandora.

Normally I wouldn't be too bothered as I have plenty of games I still have to play, like just about every game I bought during the christmas holiday deal bonanza on Steam last year (which I thought would hopefully pull me through this year but it looks like they'll easily pull me through next year too.  :( ) but suddenly I really want to play this game.

Oh well, beggars can't be chosers.

I do, but I hate spending money one the hunch it will work well with WINE..
It's a free game though. Nothing you can buy will give you any edge.

You can get extra stash tab, or extra character slots and that's it.

You should try it if you like hacko-slasho-buttonmasho games, it's one of the best out there. Certainly better than Diablo 3, titan quest, torchlight.

Although I won't blame you if you can't enjoy it, because it's really hardcore and some of the mechanics are quite unintuitive.

This game is so far from little :/ The game isnt very noob friendly, there is a HUUUGE learning curve where you pretty much have to forget every hack'n'slash rpg rule there is in the book in order to learn how this works. While it's arguable that Diablo 3 has better physics and game engine, Path of Exile beats it to shred in every other way. That goes for Diablo 2 as well, and it's definitely tailored more towards D2 players then D3. Blizzard are smart enough so far to steal ideas for this game for the D3 expansion, i just hope they steal more then what they've announced so far.

I didn't notice it was free, that changes things..

C'mon Fusion cut me a break, I'm a "little" tired today..
You're not tired enough, Think big! :D

Well, it should be noticed that PoE don't have any physics at all, not a deal breaker but this is one of the reasons why D3 feels more "smooth" for many players. Another reason may be that in PoE you can't interrupt your attacks, which I find personaly a little bit annoying but this never was a big problem for the PoE players. And PoE starts slow to be honest and the first areas are not the best in graphics but it will get much better and PoE still keeps it's realistic, dark tone unlike D3 and it's cartoonish style.

Try it out, it's worth it if you like hardcore Hack'n Slays. ;)

You'd think with how slow it starts, and how long it takes to "beat" the game, that someone new would understand the game after beating it. NOPE, you STILL have no clue on how things work, from the currency, to the vendors, to the skills, and most of all, to the passives.
