Pandora Pandora As A Midi Sequencing Workstation ..

+1 on the big thanks!

I have been lurking here for a few years now but am actually excited enough to make a post! I have a lot of portable midi equipment that is crying out for something as small as the Pandora to complete my ultimate travelling setup. I am particularly interested in the Java based Nord Modular programmer and that'll be one of the first things I try with my Micromodular.

Can't wait...

When you're running MIDI apps in Hatari, are you limited to a single MIDI output (16ch) or can you emulate something like a Midex?

Hey, i wanna say, thats my work is done with a standard "default" Pandora, without any special code ;)

Just noticed this. So you've done this without adding any of the modules torpor describes? Any more details? :)

Yes, its a standard setup w/o torpor´s Code, but of course i wanna say, i´m very impressed of his work and hope he´ll go on !
@topor: Good work ! Well done :) !

@MIDI out:
yes the Atari Emu is limited to 16 channels at the moment, but its enough to use the pandora as a synth,
a smart stand alone Seq or a second sequencer in your MIDI studio setup ;)

So, folks,

i´m back again now with phase II B)

My lastest MIDI Test demonstrates a MIDI-Sequencer (STEINBERG´s Cubase) running on a Pandora :D .

On this Video you can see Cubase Lite (ATARI Version) on my Pandora, which is playing a MIDI-file
(non optimized, only for a first test - sorry for that :unsure: ) and controlling a YAMAHA AN-200 synth.

Of course using better and a optimized MIDI-Files will sounds even more better too and shows
finally more stabil MIDI timing.

I tried also the commercial Cubase Version 2.0 (it´s more stable and better timing) but it´s replace
the mouse driver while loading (so HATARI can´t recognize the mouse) <_<

Anyway, I think for the first try it´s cool ;)

Great stuff. FYI I'm running Cubase 2.0 without mouse issues. Any further version details might be pushing the forum rules a bit, so drop me a PM Andy if you want specifics. :)

ps. Running extended resolution (Mono @ 768x480) is magic for Cubase.

Hey Gruso, thank for the great hint :D !

UPDATE: okay, my mistake, i got now V2.0 also running fine ;)
Think i have to buy some glasses next time B)
The Disk with the mouse issue was V.1.0, but i didn´t had my eyes directly on the version number :rolleyes:

You know what's fun?

Pandora -> Hatari -> Cubase 2.0 -> USB MIDI -> C64 with MSSIAH cartridge -> BASSLINE baby.

Honestly, what a kickass little device this is. :D

[edit] Crappy vid, why not.

Oh, man, Gruso, that is fantastic. :D

I'm half-tempted to challenge you to make a whole chiptune album like this, you know. :p

Hi

I`m trying to use seq24 (Grusos build) to control fluidsynth (downloaded from the angstrom repros). Now I try to connect these apps over midi. I can start jack in non realtime mode. But when I connect with fluidsynth, I get a error that jack is not runing. But Jack runs in Console.

Code:
fluidsynth -a jack -g 1 -j ~/path/to/soundfont.sf2

Any suggestions how to configure jack or how can I simply connect seq24 and fluidsynth?

Use aconnectgui to make the MIDI connection between devices and leave Jack completely out of the picture ..

Thank you Topor. I try now how to create a working midi routing config with aconnect. But fluidsynth has some strange problems. Is there any other sound generator around to play with over midi?
