Although I'm not sure it ever came out...

Well, is there anything like it?
...and maybe even Rockbox would be quite useful for me.
I honestly don't see the point of those pairing watches. If you have to own and take a clunky smartphone with you anyway,...
heh, I was going to ask you about battery life. What sort of length do you get between charges? I remember the original Pebbles saying about a week.As a Pebble Time Round owner, I stand by my purchase. I knew what I wanted (simple and small peripheral for doing simple smartphone tasks much quicker, notification center, good display, good support), and I got everything I wanted...except good battery life
Onto the more relevant topic, I have absolutely no idea why Pebble was even brought up in the 1st place. It is the direct opposite of what Klumpen asked for lol.
It may be a fantasy device, but it's far more realistic than the PGS.He was looking for a fantasy device: open source (free) stand alone wristwatch that you can phone with, has rockbox on it, an sd slot, headphone jack and great battery life? Of course that doesn't exist.

I bought a Garmin Vivoactive, for my running/triathlons, but it looked like a day-to-day watch too (and I could write software for it), and I easily get several weeks out of it (obviously less when you kick in the GPS)

The Pebble is - imo - one of the few interesting smartwatches around that you can actually buy and can be useful without a phone. Even though the bootloader appears to be proprietary they do actively support open source development.

Hmm, not just buy a Sansa Clip+, install Rockbox and Sellotape it to your arm? ;-)A smartwatch with Rockbox. I'd never take it off.
I got a Sansa Clip+ with Rockbox on it and it's unstable as hell (and lacks phone capabilities).Hmm, not just buy a Sansa Clip+, install Rockbox and Sellotape it to your arm? ;-)

I reflashed it two times, tried three different sd cards and asked around, others had this problem too.Strange - I think they are awesome, even without phone capabilities
I've got a couple of them and are used almost daily and never have a problem with it. The Sansa Clip+ rockbox port is considered stable by the Rockbox team. So should work fine, unless you have a hardware problem or installed a messed up bootloader/rockbox version.
A corrupt SD card might cause troubles as well.
When playing from sd-card, it often crashes. It doesn't do that when using internal storage but data transfer to the internal storage sometimes leads to totally corrupted files.

My guess is, that a lack of quality control is involved since some people have those problems (with Rockbox and the native software) while others don't.
Which kind, sizes and partitions of micro-sd cards do you use in it?
