Chrono Trigger reboots if sound is enabled, make sure sound is off, load it up and it should be ok, you can then do a savestate, turn the sound on and reset, load the state and it should work fine, although I think it still crashes on fight scenes if sound is enabled.

I cant get my head round these idiots moaning about this emulator. It's clearly miles ahead of the other 2 snes emu's.

Well done YoYo and others who worked on it, it's brilliant!

Chiz i've never "moaned" about this emu, and if you had read one of the post
i've done before you could see how i can appreciate it. :D

But i just want to now how to use , that's all!! :p

Raven Thx for yur answer.

Bye

I read through all the preceding posts before finally downloading and giving the thing a go... Giving the mixed feedback on speed and the fact that Yoyo said not to expect too much I was absolutely blown away by how good it is. Considering this is Version 0.1 it's bleeding excellent!

I still haven't bought myself a GP32, but does anyone feel like testing out Harvest moon and tell me how it runs? :)

I have not moaned either i just feel that SNES9x is better for me and my GP32.

The games that i play do not require anymore than 20 FPS so i would rather have sound than a slight speed increase.

KERB Harvest Moon works amazingly well on both SNES9X and opensnes9x.

Yes

Sadly my GP32 can only cope with 156 for about 10mins but I've found lots of games are playable at 133, I'm still jealous of of you 166 bastards though! :p

What makes it a great emu though is zipped rom support, save states and a proper menu. I've certainly deleted the other two and unlike them this emu is still being worked on! :D

One of the greatest moments in the GP32 emulation history to be sure. As for feedback, I would recommend an auto frameskip option (so it always runs at 100% of the original speed) and the option the specify an exact clockspeed between 133 and 166 (since some can overclock to 150Mhz, 164Mhz etc).

Great work you three, very much looking forward to the next release!

My GP32 does that also, and I feel the exact same way too about 166'ers, so you're not alone :)

But anyhow, I tested out OpenSNES9x on 133 so far - great emu yoyo! It doesnt exactly run full speed with certain games I played, but I'm surprised at how slick F-Zero (and the japanese semi-sequal BS ROM known as F-Zero 2) went at 3 Frameskip on 133MHz with no sound.. cant wait for the day Mario Kart and F-Zero are fully playable with sound and full speed optimization :)

Congrats to Yoyo and friends on not only to make such an outstanding emu, but for winning the 15day compo! :D

I was a 166er. never had a problem,,, that is until last night, loaded up opens 166 and it crashed after a few minuites, so i thaught to myself not a problem, time to change the batteries but it still didnt work, so i tried with my adapter and it didnt work.

know im really annoyed, the second decent snes comes out my gp stops workin at 166mhz.

this seems weird..... i have always been able to overclock to 166, but mine started mashing up on some games using opensnes9x last night. I therefore decided to try Gpengine and Snes9x at 166mhz, but they worked fine.
Anyway, it seems that i can still overclock to 166.....so....phew.

(and sorry if we lucky ones annoy some of you not so lucky ones! :) )

Sound crashes it (after a few mins), its super last minute work the sound. I don't think its really designed to be used with it yet.

yeah, seems thats what it was. just over full speed mario kart at fs 2. steady 66fps, no sound. thats real good

Have played Super Mario World (@166) with sound for quite some time, no problems at all. Most other games are way too slow with sound (but no crashes-yet).

Unfortunately some games (like Donkey Kong Country, second level) are too dark to play, changing gamma doesn't really help. Complete fun to play my SNES games on the GP, games look brilliant on this screen. Can even play Putty Squad at a decent speed - don't laugh, it's a very nice platform game :)

Well I have just tried a few games on this ver ynew piece of software:

I am using the 156MHz-Version as I cannot go higher with my GP32
"VS" means "Video Sync" is turned on, otherwise it is off.

Super Mario World
With Sound:
- Frameskip 2 = video is about 70% of full speed, sound very much to slow.
- Frameskip 3 = video is about 80-85% of full speed, sound much to slow
Without Sound:
- FS 1 = game runs too fast :)
- FS 1 VS = Game runs at about 65% of full speed
- FS 2 VS = Game runs at full speed!

Super Mario All Stars
All games work, speed for them is the same as SuperMarioWorld (see above)

Street Fighter 2 Turbo
With Sound:
- FS 2: game runs at about 60% of full speed
Without Sound:
- FS 2: game runs at full speed!
- FS 1: game runs at full speed!

Super Aleste
With Sound:
- FS 2 = game runs at about 60% of ful, speed
- FS 3 = video runs at about 80% of full speed, sound slower
Without Sound:
- FS 1 = game runs at full speed! Wow!
But I guess there is a bug, because collision detection does not work (you cannot die by shots from enemies) - or my version is somehow "cracked"...

Contra 3
With Sound:
- FS 2 = game runs at about 40% of full speed
- FS 3 = game runs at about 45-50% of full speed
Without Sound:
- FS 2 = game runs at 95% of full speed! That is REALLY PLAYABLE, YEAH! Oh what a great game :D

Flashback
With Sound:
- FS 1 = game runs at full speed! Wonderful!

Super Ghouls'n Ghosts
With Sound:
- FS 3 = game runs at about 50% of full speed
Without Sound:
- FS 2 = game runs at about 65-70% of full speed
- FS 3 = game runs at about 75% of full speed
What a hardcore (I mean difficult) but great game!

So all in all this emulator runs many great games, although with sound they are mostly not playable (yet).
Congratulations and THANK YOU! Continue your great work!

i was thinking what could be usefull for this emu is list for ideal button layouts, since lots/most games need customising to play well, might as well make it easy for people, i was doing a list for myself but thought i'd share it just incase anyone else would find it of use, if anyone wants to add it would be cool, since there are loads more games i want to play but know im going to have to spend a while on each game working out which buttons to change, anyway heres what i got so far...

I'm playing Space Megaforce (US version of Super Aleste) and collision detection does indeed work - enemy bullets will kill you DEAD!
