Apparently Open2x requires automake 1.7, however the latest Ubuntu has is 1.4. There seem to be some dependency problems with Ubuntu and Open2x. Is there a repository somewhere that contains updated development packages that can be used to successfully compile Open2x on Ubuntu? I'd like to get started developing for my new GP2X.

hi,
it should have 1.4, 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9 available, but you might have to enable universe first.
what does
apt-cache search automake
show?

Code:
autobook - GNU Autoconf, Automake and Libtool Book
autoproject - create a skeleton source package for a new program
ftjam - FreeType version of Jam, a replacement for make
jam - Software-build tool, replacement for make
kapptemplate - creates a framework to develop a KDE application
libticables3-dev - support library for Texas Instruments link cables [development files]
libticalcs4-dev - provides functions to communicate with TI calculators [development files]
autoconf - automatic configure script builder
autoconf-doc - automatic configure script builder documentation
automake1.4 - A tool for generating GNU Standards-compliant Makefiles
automake1.7 - A tool for generating GNU Standards-compliant Makefiles
automake1.8 - A tool for generating GNU Standards-compliant Makefiles
automake1.9 - A tool for generating GNU Standards-compliant Makefiles
autotools-dev - Update infrastructure for config.{guess,sub} files
gnome-common - common scripts and macros to develop with GNOME or GNOME 2.0
pkg-config - manage compile and link flags for libraries
qt3-designer - Qt3 Designer
smake - Schily make. Portable, extensible make
unsermake - A tool for generating Makefiles, a replacement for automake

I also had a couple problems with autoconf, and I discovered I had autoconf1.23(the obsolete version) installed. I removed that and it seems to be getting further now.

Also, for the libs, it complains about not being able to find libxml2, even though it is installed. Oops, forgot to comment out the svg target.
