New Ps2

There wont be a HDD for the PStwo, sony's said that they feel with so many of the original PS2 sold that anyone in the market for the drive already has a PS2 that can hold one.

As for the fan, the new production design allows it to have a massively condensed chip set up and run cooler at the same time so all they needed was a laptop style fan.

Why would you want linux on your PS2? You said the kit was 200 EURO?
An xbox wich is much more powerful can easily run linux without any extra cost and it's only 150 Euro...

Atleast with the xbox you can have some servers up like hlds server, html, or ftp.
And xbox has a much bigger modding scene. (Also Linux)

If that is the case then why try to run linux on the gp32? I mean the Xbox is far more powerful, and cheaper, why don't we all just use that?

Shut your trap, fanboy.

PStwo will have external HDD support!

Update #6: Since I already let the cat out of the bag in THIS on-going Forum thread, the surprise I mentioned earlier in this post is this: A company we all know well has been developing a specific product allowing the use of a USB HDD on the PS2/PSTwo for running games using HD Advance and... the ETA for this exciting product is within 30-60 days! Those of you who were hesitant in purchasing a PSTwo due to the lack of native (internal) HDD support can now put your mind to ease- more to come on this exciting news soon! Finally, be sure to check out our PSTwo Section, although still under development it will offer information, Tutorials, and DEV resources exclusively for the new PSTwo console!

Yay!

The GP32 is a handheld, and has different uses for Linux. Although its not entirely practical, its a neat experiment. The PS2 and XBOX are both around the same price, and are very similar when it comes to general use, however the XBOX is far less locked down when you install a modchip compared to PS2 Linux, and, as has been said, has a much larger modding scene.

Linux for the PS2 is also rather expensive.

Its just more sensible to buy an XBOX and mod that if you want a cheap Linux system running on a console, faboyism has nothing to do with it. If anything, you're being a fanboy.

Anyway, I don't currently have a PS2, but have been thinking of picking one up since it has some exclusive games that I want. This may be a good time. I might not get the PSTwo, since PS2 prices may go down and it would simply be more economical to get an earlier model.

why is it £100 more expensive?

Surely the price would be cheaper, since it is smaller, tnd therefore needs less materials inside it?

or is there something else that costs £100?

I think I'll end up getting one of these once the PS2 is on its way out and these sell for nice and cheap. :D

What I would really like it an smaller Xbox... you know, one that isn't the size of a house.
