The GP2X+ Has:

Same CPU as the good old GP2X, same screen;

A REAL 8-microswitch or carbon pad D-PAD.
and/or a extra 'center' button to make up for the lack of one
(can't have a center-pivot D-pad without a center pivot, which means NO 'push-center hub down'.

Moved Power plug (on top near SD card, not on the side)

Tweaked power supply,
Can now accept a Rechargeable "RCR-V3" type battery.
(3.7 Volts or 4.2 Volts nominal. Also MUCH higher energy drains than NiMH for Extreme overclocks)

CPU heatsink, Copper or Aluminium to dissipate heat better, basically a large flat sheet of al/cu thermal bonded to the cpu. RAM heatsink as well.

Tweaked RAM and CPU electronics for greater and more reliable overclocks.

The GP3X:

MMSP2+ CPU which supports:

3D acceleration,
H264 video decoding in HARDWARE
Video ENCODING. (which means a Video In/Out adapter plug)
Integrated High capacity Li-ION Polymer battery (3500mAh or higher)
CPU's similar enough to the GP2X for potential to run SAME software with minor changes.
Faster, at 360Mhz default clock.
128 MB of DDR RAM (way better than the SD currently used...goodbye 1998, hello 2002!)
Upgraded SD port (?) support for large density cards.
Onboard USB Host connector. Onboard USB MiniType-B Connector for GP2X-to-PC, and recharging battery.
Multi-purpose connector (Audio/Video in/out, USB connectors, Serial and JTAG).
Larger onboard NAND Flash (say 512 MB)
Similar formfactor as before, more 'standard' ports.
Higher contrast screen.

your hardware concepts are really ok and makes sense

Gah!! I agree! These are the beasties that jacked my other poll about either GPH got greedy or GP, and turned into an argument about a Gp2x+ or Gp3x+ or something stupid...

Ugh, ANOTHER "I am bored with my GP2X and want a new system, post dream specs here" thread

It is bad enough that other threads seem to end up this way but another?

Really if you want a new handheld with 3D and a stupid expensive non-replaceable battery etc just buy one other the others that are out.

Why do you suggest a heat sink, does the gp2x have heat problems?
No. I'm betting he thinks it will make it overclock more, but really, overheating isn't the problem there.

i dont understand these topics, dont you guys want software to mature over time ???

to be a part of these communities is half of the gp2x experience. and how long has the product been out 2years or something one thing that make me mad is companies who just spits out hardware and don,t support them properly.

in this case it,s almost no support from the company the community is where thing,s happen

if the gp3x would this year i will not buy anything more from gph because the life for the hardware is too short for my liking.

i ditched windows 7 years ago of the same reasons "hardware upgrade mayhem" i ditched my Xbox of the same reasons, in this generation of consoles the companies seem to speed up the lifespan of hardware. and i don,t like it,

im not made out of money you know and would like to atleast
figure out my hardware before it gets replaced

aww heck feel free to ignore me i just gets so fired up when i have to
0. buy new exiting hardware
1. pay my games for my system
2. pay for a new system to finish trilogy of game
3. pay again for the same games on new hardware
4. pay for "extra" content on my games who i already bought
goto 0.

How about a "release the commercial bob already dude post"

Those post are getting old too.

There is no real justification for any of the heat dissipation ideas. ARM CPU's and Ram in this sort of architecture generate no heat. Only the batteries may generate heat.

I'm sick of all the whining!
if the gp2x isnt good enough for you why did you buy it?
There is such a thing as having a wish for a better console in the next version you know.

ugh, i hate these topics. It's all just just the gimme kids that aren't happy with the classics.

If you want 3d, the GP2x isn't your handheld. Buh Bye.

Exactly. Thanks for your insight there, I get sick and tired of kids whining about no psx/n64/dc/ps2/GC/xbox/360 emulation on the GP2X, for 2D it's great, for 8-bit it's better. It's all about the retro, not 3D.

Interesting, the GP2X+ is just a GP2X with some mods, get yours modded.

The GP3X is a dream right now, PS Samsung just released 16GB NAND. DDR seems a little out there, do we need GB's of bandwidth for a handheld?

what did you take? Can I get some?

This is right, we don't need anything to cool the processor.

If you want the GP3X: MAKE YOUR OWN. Get the circuit board made and populated and have at it, not really worth though is it?

The GP2X+ would be lovely, unfortunately you hold it in your hand already, just get a D-pad put on, USB on the top and move the power to the top to. It is only a simple mod.
