I just got a Gp2x and I have a 3.0 firmware, but my NES, GPFCE_v02 emulator won't work. When I try to load it the screen says error: Cannot access to directory. How do I make this emulator work?

you need to put the gpfce folder on the root of your card. you also have to put a roms folder on the root of your card also. you can make an NES folder within that folder and your roms in there. try that first.

Ok, you need to supply more info;

What directory did you un-zip your files to?
What .gpe are you using to launch the game?
Where are your ROMS located?

What does root of the card mean? and how would I go about doing that?

Root directory is the drive letter you put the EMU under; my card reader shows it as the "F" drive ... you simply make a folder called (for example) "FCEultra" and inside this folder you extract the contents of the zip file.

Then create a folder called 'roms', and inside there another folder called 'nes', here is where you put your NES roms (zipped or unzipped)

1. I just unzipped the files on my computer then I put them on my SD card

2. I am not sure what you mean?

3. My roms are located like this
1st Folder: Emulators
2nd Folder: Nes
3rd Folder: Gpfce_v02 and Nes Roms
4th Folder: roms in Nes Roms

I know it all seems odd at first, but you'll get used to it. Just follow the readme PRECISELY. Do EXACTLY what it says. The GP2X is worth the effort. This is a Linux console. :)

You should be using a PSP, not a gp2x.

If you cant do that at least read the readme files

Thanks

I figured it out, sorry I am such a newbie.

... don't be. Hey, you at least posted in the right forum ;)

DO read the readme's first before asking for help though, you'll keep the scorching to a minimum :)

It's worth the effort in the end. Many games work "out of the box" so to speak , but many require a quick read of whatever comes with the program/s.

It cannot be treated like a PSP/DS type thingy.

Stick with it.

Dear me, if you can't navigate and manage drives, files & folders, then i think you should purchase a PSP/DS.

Did you perform any research on the GP2x before buying? I did loads before I bought one and I've already got a GP32... gp32_console

btw...

The "ROOT" of a drive is the 1st window/page you see when you access your SD from My Computer (Windows)

example...

C: Drive on all Windows PC's holds all your programs that you install and has folders named "windows" & "program files", This is the ROOT.

Anyway, it's very easy to learn and the 2x was a great choice (Stick with it).

:D

Moose, people have to start somehow -- if the GP2X is what helps this fellow learn about emulation and file systems, that's great.
