Hate to ask, but since someone here said about elite on the NES, is it true?

I mean, I found a rom for it, in German, but the screen is all messed up. I've played with all the settings, but it makes no difference?

Has anyone got it to work? Is the a good rom out there por me to search?

Can this machine get any better? Could I finally become ELite, and not just deadly?

Can I ask anymore questions?

Sorry, I'm all excited :D

Edit, found a version that works (NTSC), Sorry to trouble you all! But has anyone else played it............?

it's version 0.05

how completed is it? is it like many games just one or to levels?
or the complete game with some bugs?

Its not really complete IIRC. I recommend the Atari ST version via Castaway, you can play Frontier ( Elite 2 ) via that as well..

Isn't it a little too slow and hard to control?

By and large it's ok, just the map screen where you use the cursor keys is a little slow. I managed to do quite a bit of trading between sol and barnards star and get a corba markIII playing on the gp :)

To play NES Elite on the GP32 you need the Public Domain version of the ROM (it is an NTSC hack of the PAL game, but is just the same gamewise) and it only plays on LittleJohn.

The ROM is available from Ian Bells website, along with loads of other versions of Elite.

The port of elite is very good, but includes no sound which is the only thing missing from elite in my opinion. The nes elite is belting, very very good. abd works well on the gp32, Its a shame nobody could combine the interface of one with the newness of the other

Course there was a port for the C64 :D . It was the the first port featuring the tribbles! It also played the Blue Danube when you engadged the docking computers I seem to remember...

I was a huge fan of Elite back in the day and i used to love just trying to get my rating up

I wrote on one of the other threads elsewhere about an 'Elite equivalent' for the PC

The 'X' series of games by http://www.egosoft.com are excellent and are just like the original Elite. You can try to follow the main storyline or just build up your credits, build a mining station or do mini missions etc and dock at space stations.

The graphics are amazing on the PC and its an excellent buy. X - Beyond the Frontier (cant quite remember the name) but basically X2 is well worth the cheap asking price. For fans of Elite this is the best game like that on the PC

Other people have raved about this game, but told me how addictive it is. Raises an interesting point about games for people like me, ie. time! I love the GP32, (and my GBA, pocket pc etc.) cos I can play it for 10 mins here, save my game and go on. A PC game has to be sat down and played. I bought final fantasy online a couple of months ago, and played it morning noon and night. Didn't do any work (apart from what I had to ;) )! So at the most fun ever, I uninstalled it, and haven't played it since. It was probably as great a gaming experience as Elite (the best ever), and that's why it had to go!

So if I put X2 on my PC, I'm doomed! Seriously, I'm scared of it

Maybe I'll just have a little look, tho.........

Or buy a PSP, or DS. Or both. Am I rambling....?

Sorry
