never owned one. never played one. dont know much about them.

any must play titles?

sorry if this info is repeated elsewhere....

I knew this would come, but not in a bad way. I want to find out what decent games there are on the NGPC, because I want to try them. :)

I have got a neo geo pocket at home and I bought some games over ebay, but I was always a bit disapointed from the game quality. I tried Metal Slug, Last Blade, Pocket Tennis Color, Neo Cup 98. I mean they are nice, but if you got other systems like Genesis on your GP2X, then I think these games are rather poor. Maybe Bust-A-Move, but you better play the Neo Geo CD version.

"best neo geo pocket"
"top 10 neg geo pocket"
etc, etc

and got nothing but an amazon listmania!
i'd like something with a bit more to it.

The best fighting game for the NGPC is easily SNK vs. Capcom - Match of the Millenium, with great graphics (considering the system, at least), amazing gameplay and a ton of stuff (characters, extra moves, et cetera) to unlock.

I'd personally consider Samurai Shodown! 2 a second, with The Last Blade a third (I think SS!2's engine is better, even if LB's graphics are better). King of Fighters R-2 is also a great game, but I consider it inferior to MotM, in part because of the somewhat small roster and because of the somewhat unpolished engine. Gals Fighter is supposed to be pretty good, but I haven't played it enough to give a good opinion. I don't really like Fatal Fury: First Contact, but there are those that do.

For RPGs (and RPG-like games), Cardfighter's Clash (either the Capcom or the SNK version) is a must-have, as is Faselei.

That should get you started, at least. MotM, CC and SS2 are some of my favourite games for any system.

Metal Slug 2
SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millenium (a FANTASTIC portable fighter)
faselei!
Dark Arms: Beast Busters 1999 (this game is not so good, but I liked it for some reason)

and the absolute most addicting, greatest handheld game ever:
SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter's Clash (trust me; just try it out. I never played a card-based game before or since that one, its so damn good)

Faselei is a great strategy game. You can also add the pocket version of Neo Turf Master as one of the top games.

Picture Puzzle
it will steal your soul!

and then there's neo turf masters, neo geo cup 98, snk vs. capcom and falselei--but those come way below picture puzzle. It actually will steal your soul, and is the best game of its type that I've ever played.

As the others have said, puzzle bobble, match of the millenium etc, incredible and so much better than gameboy colour games but it just never got the support it deserved. It had the best joypad of any handheld ive ever used, microswitched with a concave button, loverly!

There are some reviews on here, this is the sort of emulator that coupled with a new joystick and all the horrendous bugs being fixed, would make me buy a gp2x. All of the roms seem to be near me so to speak as well...

Right,

If you want a decent fighter, well theres many;
1: SNK vs Capcom - Match Of The Millenium (has a great olympics mode too)
2: King Of Fighters R2 (Has a decent "Making" mode where you complete a story mode and get new moves and powerups for your selected fighter)
2: Samurai Showdown (Cool cards that you earn and add to your player)

Here are some other decent NGPC games;
Bio Motor Unitron - a very, very absorbing game where you take control of restoring an old robot. You gather aterials and make your own weapons and buy parts ie. motors, legs, accesories for your robots.

Sonic - the name speaks for itself.

Neo Geo world cup (or something like that) - a simple football game where you can manage the team buy them new boots with different moves =D

I've probably spent more time playing Cardfighter's Clash than any other game. Ever. It's insanely addictive and absorbing.

All of the fighting games are based (I think) on the same engine, so as such they're all really good. I'd go for Match of the Millenium and the super Last Blade first.

Metal Slug. First and Second Missions. Excellent.

Pacman is just Pacman, but Pacman is good.

I'd have to back up every body's claim about Card Fighter Clash, I could not get enough of it. So much in fact, that I bought a second Neo-Geo Pocket and the other version of the game (I think I had the Capcom version, so I bought the SNK version as well) and tried to get every single card. Believe it or not, I got to 298 out of 300, and the only two I couldn't get were the ones that were randomly distributed when you played a link battle against another player. No matter what I did, I could never win the secret link battle card, and I kept playing over and over and over again. *sigh* Did anyone here every get all 300?

So for those of you who are not familiar with the game, but want to give it a shot, you will in fact encounter two versions of it, the SNK version and the Capcom version. The differences between the two are the same as the differences, say, between Pokemon Red and Blue (or Gold and Silver, Ruby and Saph., etc) in that each version contains a select set of cards that are unique to that version. There are 300 cards in all, but in order to come close to 300, you need to trade off with cards from the other version, which is not easy to do if the emulator doesn't have any kind of link support. Nevertheless, it's still a worthwhile play. There was a Japanese only sequel to the game, and someone actually started working on a translation patch for it, but really didn't finish the job. What's done makes it very playable if you're familiar with the first game and don't care about the story. And there's only one version of the second game, so I'm pretty sure you can get every card in that one, although I've never tried. I like the card artwork much more in the first one. There was even real packs of cards produced based on this game, and I have a few decks of them, they're extremely rare and hard to find.

Here`s a few games I have that are well worth checking out.

1. Cotton - Fantastic Night Dreams(a cool little shoot`em up)
2. Dark Arms - Beast Buster(another shoot`em up with some rpg elements)
3. Delta Warp(puzzle game)
4. Densha De GO! 2
5. Metal Slug - 2nd Mission
6. Card Fighters Clash
7. Faselei!
8. Biomotor Unitron

Plus, nearly all the NGPC fighters and most of the other puzzlers are great.

And finally - Ganbare NeoPoke Kun.
Ganbare has loads of mini games to unlock.

Hope this helps!

And as this is my 1st post..
