Hi guys...

my awesome phone is not so awesomely refusing to charge as it seems the USB port has failed...

Anyone know what standard procedure would be to get it repaired?

EDIT: And no it's not in warranty so I mean paid repairing...

If you know someone with good electronic soldering knowledge, he can fix it.

The service manual is available on the net, so opening the phone is easy.

My first N900 also died from that, but I killed it completely trying to fix it myself...

The first thing I did on my new one was to pad the case so that the USB port is now pushed towards the PCB and can't break anymore.

Probably a good idea for you as well, as soon as you get it fixed.

Opening it and sticking it back together is not too bad. I had to replace my screen (I sat down with it in the back of my jeans pocket!) and it was manageable. If your soldering skills are good, then I'd attempt it. You can download the official Nokia service manual PDF from the interwebz. You do have to be careful not to break the screws, though, Nokia deems them to be one use only! My repair was fine but I've heard of others breaking the screws.
