i have not been able to get any of my videos to play on my open Pandora. from my itunes library :s

Need more input, please.

What format are they? Were they purchased on iTunes? And so on. :p

What format is the video, though? That's just a container, if memory serves.

Also, just to cover all bases, this is a stupid question, but have you installed the Community Codec Pack?

aka the video codec is H.264 (x264)

and audio is AAC (faac)

Ah, there's the problem. I gather that H.264 is a bit much for the Pandora.

I don't know if it will be possible in the future, as it's not something I know a lot about, but I do recall others mentioning issues with it previously.

i think its possable with the dsp core working as a old iphone 2g can play this file

Ok, we should go back to start. What does "not able to play" even mean?

From that resolution, I'm going to guess you're getting a black screen with sound? Weird things happen when trying to playback a video larger than the screen. Try hitting 'F' to make it "full screen" which will shrink it down.

Prometheus is right though, I'm pretty sure it's too high of quality to be handled.

And I seem to recall that the iPhone had/has a dedicated h264 processor in it; it isn't even a close comparison.

yes i did for panplayer and i did do full screen and pan player. its just very laggy

The obvious one here: Did you reinstall the Community Codec Pack with the latest HotFix?

yes i did that to im on hf6 with the codeic pack

edit the iphone 2g was a old CPU ARM 11 412 MHz with a PowerVR MBX-Lite graphics

Yes, it's laggy because it's too much to handle for the CPU and we don't have hardware codec support yet.

And a chip for the single purpose of decoding h.264 video. You could get a 286 to play h.264 video with that chip (actually probably not, I don't think think the ram was fast enough back then, but you should get the point)

That's mean. Everything today seems to have HW support for playing Videos, even old little iPhones. Only our beloved Pandora is way behind. :(

it has hardware support via the dsp as far as i am aware but requires some sort of dsp codec which we dont have a license to.

maybe some one could clarify this?

Not really behind the times.. (well sure, the h/w isn't cutting edge anymore, but..)

You can go buy a brand spanking new tablet _today_, that with dual core CPUs has a sluggish menu that reviewers complain about, and that can't play these same videos ;)

Its all about hardware support and good drivers, and its a complex topic.. even with the hardware, you often can't get the drivers from the bloody vendors ;)

Now, Now...There's nothing wrong with my HP Touchpad dual-core clocked at 1.5Ghz having trouble playing 480p movies, and not being able to store 720p movies because of Fat32 file system the TouchPad is stuck with.
