My Comp Wont Detect "a New Usb Device"

I seem to remember (or was I dreaming? (rewinds memory hmmm no blondes involved so probably not a dream ;) ) that one or other of the bios can do this, cannot remember which one though (I still use original)

Anyways the way I connect is

Turn pc link on
Turn GP on
connect usb to GP
Select pc link on GP
Press ok to start PC link on pc

connects every time when I do that

Erm... why are you writing like your retarded?

It really puts me off helping you out when you can't even write correctly, how old are you?

Anyway, your best bet if you can't get it to work at all might be an SMC reader writer, or to try using an alternative writer software (there are several, I think gpdrive has already been mentioned). The only way to get rid of freelauncher is to first get freelauncher so you can flash the bios.

You could try it on another computer... then you will know for sure.

Its true that about 5% of the USB cables are faulty too, so it *could* be that.

I have the same problem every so often too. It's just the USB cable that causes the trouble for me, if I play about with the cable I can usually get it working if I want. But I just use my digital camera now to transfer stuff accross. The only time I actually connect my GP32 with the USB cable is when I format any new SMCs.

What he's saying is FreeLauncher isn't necessary in the day to day running of the GP, but IS necessary to start with to get at the alternatives. (I don't use FreeLauncher anymore.)

Download this (courtesy of Drumaster):
ftp://drumaster.homeftp.org/pc%20stuff/usb%20xp/usbxp.zip

Unzip it somewhere safe and logical. Right click the .inf file and then click Install.

The only other thing it could be are broken usb ports (but your other usb devices work) or broken hardware on the cable or gp32. You have tried using the usb ports that you normally use for your camera?

Failing that, umm, try another GP32 (if you know anyone else who has one, which is statistically unlikely :D ).

 i have an appology to make, after all that..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................i hadn't pushed the USB lead far enough into the GP!

oh no.... (i think i have something in my eye) that was a joke right?!!
