Does anyone know if the pandora would be able to run music production software like propellerhead's reason 4 or 5? if so could it be operated with a midi controller via usb.

Sorry mate but it's very unlikely that you will be able to run this software as it appears to be closed-source and not run on Linux ARM. (i.e. the software is written for Windows/MacOS on the x86 architecture, whereas we are running Linux on the ARM architecture).
However I think I read that there was some success using a midi controller over USB, so maybe you can use another product?
You might want to check out LMMS, it's very good in my opinion (tho I hate digital filters) and since it's free and open source(FOSS) it can likely be ported if it hasn't yet. LMMS is much like fruityloops or so I hear.
