So I was thinking (as I do from time to time) about multiplayer games.

and a few questions came up that i figure someone will have an answer.

What is the progress on multiplayer games or ports ?

Pandora to Pandora Gameplay ? is this possible ? Has it been done ?

theres more to add but i think if these are answered the next wave can be asked.

MattMan.

This wont be a definitive answer by any means but I believe a number of Pandora ports/emu already have some multiplayer possibilities to varying extents. I haven't tried them though.

Temper from Exophase was the first emulator to offer it and he hoped it would be expanded on at some point

Dosbox can also do netplay and ESN wrote a guide for netkeen which he links later (post #53) in that same thread above

Battle for Wesnoth is I think an online RTS type game http://pandorawiki.org/Battle_for_Wesnoth

Possibly also, is the Lemmings_SDL entire remake by miner49er http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=LemmingsSDL

I cant think of many more offhand though.

The Collector Plus, that I'm writing for the rebirth, will be multiplayer and support interconnectivity between desktops (Windows and Linux) and Pandoras over TCP and/or UDP

The Ur-Quan Masters supports multiplayer (often called "net-melee"). The current Pandora version (0.6.2) is a version behind the current release (0.7.0), though, so I don't know if it's possible to play with people using the current version on their PC.

Given the small number of Pandoras, pan2pan multiplayer might not be very valuable. However pandora to desktop could be fun, as could multiplayer with iCPs and a TVout cable

I'm currently working on making PaperWars multiplayer; if we ever manage to release the next version - this will support platform independent multiplayer.

Oh, we certainly are working on it! You're gonna have a pretty good reason to pick it up again when we release the next build B) .

Our blog http://riotandpark.com usually gets updated with news ... when I pull myself off of Blender long enough to type something up.

The most recent post talks a bit about in game chat.

Heh, how you did your shadows made me giggle. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best :)

for the lowest common denominator (gles 1.1) this is the only solution i'm aware of works :)

Mednafen also supports netplay- I tested this with PC Engine and NES from Pandora to PC and it worked nicely- I'm not sure what other mednafen systems supported multiplayer (Sega Master System?)

The one caveat is that over wifi it was less than perfect- there was some jerkyness on occasion. Over usbnet it worked very well- it might also with the third party wifi dongles.
