Hi

im using windows XP SP1 at the moment, and i am thinking about downloading SP2, but I heard some games won´t run anymore, and compatibility is down. So, can you tell me, which games won´t run anymore, and if there are workarounds to get them to work again.

about 200 programs were found to be not working, one of them was flight simulator 2003 for example.
i wouldn't upgrade now; the current upgrade is for (firmen) and stuff, but microschrott will upload a nice 70mb sp2 upgrade soon for gamers and pc-at-home-users, which should work with every program. the current ~280MB is like said only for big (firmen) and guys who need much security on their pcs cause every hacker likes to steal from them.

It IS a big leap forward in security, but the problem is, a lot of security features that break programs are enabled by default, so loads dont work (as you said). Wait and see is my philosiphy on this.

thanks for the replies, so waiting is what i will do.

@Axeman Off topic:

I wanted to be............ A LUMBERJACK! ;)

right, Monty Python ruulz

No known malware uses this technique, but a mysterious communique signed by malware authors in 144 countries vowed not to use the latest exploit regarding it as "unethical" and "unnecessarily disruptive".

Of course we made that last part up.
Bwhahahaha. I was fooled for a second.

Also take note of another bug in SP2 (and all previous versions):
http://www.mikx.de/scrollbar/

Use the scrollbar, and an EXE appears in your startup dir! This one is harmless, but the exploit is actively in use in the wild. Modifications can be made to make it download said EXE with just one click, too. Nasty stuff. Move to Firefox if you haven't already.
