I needed a short break and therefore ported Meritous to the Pandora.

It works fine, the helpfile has a few display issues and I've not yet time to change it to widescreen resolution, but apart from that, it's fully playable :)

Meritous is an action-adventure dungeon crawl game.

Far below the surface of the planet is a secret.
A place of limitless power. Those that seek to
control such a utopia will soon bring an end
to themselves.

Seeking an end to the troubles that plague him,
PSI user MERIT journeys into the hallowed Orcus
Dome in search of answers.

What makes the new port different from Hooka's?

That one seems to have some random crashing issues later in the game, according to the comments.

worth a test just to see... :p

also, looks like a good example of having a useful wiki page of Pandora-only releases, Pandora ports and list of emulators (I know, would be redundant to the fact that we have the database of games and one could look through that... but a one-page wiki would serve to be a much faster option for people wondering if this or that has already been ported or built for Pandora (as far as pre-existing stuff goes)...

just my two cents... hope it makes change! :D

You mean like this one : http://pandorawiki.org/Games ?

The problem is not that don't exist, nor that isnt up to date (Thanks a lot Esn). It's just that only a very few persons use it.

Until I saw the homebrews videos ED did a few days ago, I was planning to work on "Abe's Amazing Adventure" and "Dink Smallwood" in the near futur...
And I know the wiki page (they are listed here, Esn does an awesome job) . I was just sure they wasn't done yet :(
Now I'll just download them ;)

ok, point taken... didn't know about that page... can't say I recall seeing it stickied in either forum or on OP's homepage, but I haven't visited OPs homepage or the main pages of the forums in maybe a month or so... if they ARE in those places already, then my point is moot and I will move on with my life :p the occasional bump in the news feed would be cool (maybe a weekly one) but that could be seen as overkill (granted it's primary purpose in my eyes would be for limiting double work done by devs, with a secondary affect of giving users a constant reminder of where to go to see what the Pandora has to offer in a list form)... I'll return you to your regularly scheduled two months now. :p

Well, you'll have to take that up with EvilDragon. ;) Though seeing as how he ported something that was already listed on the wiki, I'll bet he may not have known about it either.

These are the 3 lists on the wiki that cover all software released for the Pandora:

http://pandorawiki.org/Emulator_list
http://pandorawiki.org/Software_projects
http://pandorawiki.org/Games

They were started mainly by me and Cheese, but Cheese seems to be taking a break from it since the summer.

Currently, they're also the only place where all Pandora releases are listed. (well, except for one or two non-PND'd programs) Their creation was necessitated by the split between the File Archive and the Appstore (with different devs uploading to different places, though it's mostly the File Archive these days), as well as many people only posting about programs on these forums (in the news, beta, dev or port request sections), or even sometimes the OP forums.

sounds like you're keeping track of it all and have a good handle on it... I didn't really know about the pandorawiki pages... now that I do, I'll make it a point to bookmark them.

CRASH BUGFIX FOR MERITOUS

This version still has the crash bug after some hours of playing. (I also wrote a comment in the file archive)

I had some time to squash that bug: It was indeed caused by a damaged music file (cave.xm). It causes a crash in certain areas of the map so you can't complete the game. I used the original sources of Meritous to find it out. But I think it would be better if ED corrects it because he did a nice job with the port (correctly named facebuttons ingame and proper use of them) and he has those sources.

Ed: Open dat/m/cave.xm with milkytracker, save it again (overwrite cave.xm or just use the file below), make the pnd and then the game will not crash anymore.

Quickfix (Works with TJHookas and EDs port):
Copy this into the directory /media/yoursdcard/pandora/appdata/meritous/dat/m/

Thank you for fixing Meritous, Whynodd! I could finally finish Meritous, what a wonderful game. It didn't crash one more time after your sound-file-fix. The music and visual style is wonderful, I consider it a piece of art!
