Will Pandora have a lid sensor (so it goes to standby when closed, like a DS)? Or will it just keep going, like a GBA SP?

Yep. There will be a hall effect sensor that will register proximity to the speaker magnet.

So it will be detected by software? This could make funny things for homebrew like adventure games and such :)

by the way, what kind of locking mechanism will it have?
There has never been a latch shown in a render or any mention of one. It is probably safe to assume there won't be any mechanism besides hinge friction. That works fine for the DS and many laptops, so it shouldn't be a problem for Pandora.

Yeah I'd say that no latch would be fine. One would be easy ti implement though if needed.

A good old elastic/rubber band could suffice.

A nice classicly hand crafted Italian leather case with brass clasp or buckle should keep it closed, how about one of these for a collectors edition release? :D
