OKay, a lot of people are bitching me outr for trying WoW; but what the heck.. when you work 60-80 hours a week like me, taking a break to play something halfwya modern is a good thing to do once in awhile :) I'm not sure its sustainable (especially with monthly payments and all), but its fun for my first few weeks.

So anyone else on Vek'nilash (or whatever its called) PVE server?

AHAAA !!! no WONDER you have no time for Outcast, the evil WoW affliction! (j/k I am being sarcastic no flamez needed)

I love this game too! Have been playing since October, and can not stop.

But the great thing about this game is you really can play it in small doses. If I get an hour a day in I've done okay. Normally half an hour here and there. But it is great!

i'm curious why you would work a 60-80 hour week but then go and do more work in WoW :) Well, grinding and instance runs, anyway.

*g* Well, I MUDded a lot back in the day (1994-1997 :p), and MMORPG's are basicly a graphical rip-off; WoW even seems to have some high similiarities to one MUD I played too much of so theres definite kinship; I skipped on EQ and all that, since I'm way too busy and knew a few people who got destroyed. I'm not really the sort who can be destroyed easily (my game attention span is usually about 2 hours _total_, and I work too much to have time to play .. I'd rather code games, which is fa too addictive to me ;) Anyway, now that I have a newer (not new, but newer :) laptop that cn actually play some games while on the couch, I figured I'd try out WoW .. I know a few guys playing already, so figured its a sadly social way to hang out, and stab them in the back :)

I've blogged about it a few times; the total crap experience at the beginning (god only knows what they did that made it hate my router..), and why its better than Eve for me (I have a stack of friends in Eve.)

That should sum it up; I work too much, and when I take a break I code for my own amusement (see, workaholism of course.) Once in awhile I play .. HL2 did addict me for a couple weeks, but few things do. Despite its flaws though, WoW is pretty entertaining, but I worry it is not sustainable; I can't see why people would play for a year or more .. once you've played through to level 40 or so aren't you bored silly Or they do it with 2 chars... then get bored? Do people keep payin monthly, as they feel hostage that their characters will be killed if they don't pay? (In fact I asked.. they do not delete characters, even if you don't pay.)

Certainly I don't intend on giving it much .. with how little I could afford to put into it timewise, I don't anticipate putting in lots o fmoney. But who knows.. I do expect to feed it a second month, so I can do some serious PVP trimming :)

Right now I'm up to level 19, but levels 17-21 seem designed to force you into an instance dungeon.. or kill a lot of zebras (boring). I've no time to commit 2 hours to a dungeon, so I may be running out of steam on the 3rd week :) ie: Its been fun so far, so I gave a few mins or hours here or there (every 3-4 days?), but having to hit a dungeon.. htats hard. No time for that :)

That all said, I'm trying to watch sa bit of Sopranos and also kepe up with BSG (a month behind on that), and get a bit of gaming in (Civ IV is installed but barely touched; Thief III is _amazing_, and WoW is s'alright.) I'll be a human yet ;)

But I have also worked on Descent, Retrocade and project-Foo oin the last week, while doing a few contracts and busting cap to get the next Shadow out the door in a few weeks..

/me needs sleep

At the risk of starting a war here ;) are you playing Horde or Alliance. I played alliance up to level 41 and then switched to Horde. Horde is just so much more fun. I can't define it it just is.

Goes to inn and logs off to avoid flames :)

I've only done so many hours.. level 19 Horde - Undead Rogue. Look for Snaggeltooth (Exit, stage left!) in Crossroads :p

MMORPGs=Fun
MUDs=Yawn

Hello my name is John,
*Hi John*
I've been WoW free for about 2 months.
*Cheers*

I'll probably start playing again. It is very very fun. I play on Firetree, Doomhammer, and Cenarian Circle.
If anyone else wants to play with me PM me.

I did up to level 21 before it got boring. There wasn't enough variety. Particularly when you get to level 40 and up - instance runs become your bread and butter and they take several hours to complete (my brother is level 60, the git)

As it happens, Sopranos (season 2) and BSG are the only shows I've been watching for the last month or so - very good taste there :)
