Hey Exophase,

Let say you are at the bus/train station or the airport and see the guy standing/sitting next to you enthusiastically playing DraStic on his Android device, and once in a while, he turns over to you and says "Man this emulator is fantastic!"  What would you say to him?  Would you reveal to him that "Hey I made that emulator!" or would you just be silent and smile?   :)

Have you experienced this situation seeing people using DraStic in real life and talk to you about the emulator as they are playing it and how do you feel about it?

Just curious :)

Edit:  This question is originally for Exophase, but now all devs can chime in and share your experience if you wish :)

I get the feeling you're going to get slapped by a mod for making a thread instead of PMing me, although you could argue the thread might be interesting to others I guess? :p

Unfortunately, it's really not interesting, because never in my life has something like this happened. I used to wonder if it'd ever happen with gpSP. If someone told me about an emulator I made I'm sure I'd tell them I made it. It'd be funny if they didn't believe me and I had to prove it somehow. I have had people on forums claim I was an imposter before, if you could believe that.

Well, I never reveal myself when I play Pandora and someone asks me what it is and I'll explain and tell him to visit the Pandora website... too bad I can't see their face when they watch a few Pandora videos later ;)

Why would a mod slap me for making a thread and learn more about the man behind the legend? :)

^^^^Or the legend behind the man... :)
Nope, I believe "the legend behind the man" has already been talked in Pandoralive when Ekianjo interviewed Exophase.  Now the legend has been established, we want to know "the man behind that legend" :)

I've wanted to slap people before.......

But not for this thread.  Very interesting   :)

I've been recognized in public.  But then they run off screaming........ weird   :p

I don't know if it's correct to say this or not but often times when something is given for free you don't get that publicity like when you charge for it?

Imposter!!! I know Exo in real life, and he only talks in morse code while wearing a hat made out of bread.

Were you driving around in your ice cream van again? I do hope you have the common decency of taking care of all the plastificated hookers in your basement. ;)

I doubt it. Especially not if we're talking something like Android where the accessibility is the same pay or free.

I think in the grand scheme of things I've never made an emulator that was really that widespread as far as emulators go, and it's debatable if even the most popular emulators have truly reached mainstream status (at least outside of stuff like Virtual Console). Getting a few dozen or even hundreds of thousands of users for something may seem like a lot but it's not something you'll start seeing a bunch of people on the street mention. Maybe someone would recognize MAME or Dolphin or something like that, I dunno.

Everyone at my work loves your DraStic even my VP is using it on his S4.  So everyone, at least at my work, talks about it, but me, the guy who has been followed DraStic since day one and even talks to its inventor :)

Since the question is now opened to everyone I did get "figured out" as opposed to recognise while I was at uni.

I hadn't made anything particularly remarkable at the time but on the GP32X boards "Sonistar" realised that I was in fact "PokeParadox" when Is started going to my universities Games Society(We'd hook up consoles to projectors, and play games, multiplayer and stuff.)

He noticed I'd brought my GP2X and my TV-Out cable...

I later created CromoZome on GP2X...

Very weird experience as until I said "just call me Kev!" he continued to call me "Poke" which is weird when talking to someone directly IRL IMO.

You get used to it after a while. When I first picked this name, I never imagined that it would carry across to RL,  but as it happens there are actually now a number of people who I've met only IRL who only know me as Neelix.
