Well, it arrived ~30 minutes ago so I took a few pics:
YES, that's the official GP2X case ... I didn't expect it to arrive with the unit.
I don't like the mesh 'hammock' thing though, I'm sure it would scratch the screen h34r:
^^ All the goodies that came in the box ...
Sorry for the blurry image; I suck at photography Note the "First Edition" in the left upper corner ... so it seems like not just the first 500 pre-orders in Korea got the "first Edition" units, eh?
Also, the screen shows this version as "GP2XV102" dated 11/18/2005 ... so I think it's the 'fixed' firmware ... I did stick the upgrade file on the SD card, and saw the "Firmware Upgrading" screen, then the unit booted as normal, but with the same version # (no noticeable change in screen brightness, etc. Oh, and this picture was taken before I put the SD card in)
And lastly, the unit inside the case. Again, in the words of Mr. Horse; "No sir, I don't like it".
It doesn't fit quite right, I mean .. the GP2X is square-ish .. and they make the case oval.
Anyway, I just put Pota's games on the card, ran the lib utility, and they work
I have a card reader, so I don't know about any USB issues. Also, I used a generic SD card (Impact is the brand) from Wal-Mart .. 256MB for $13
Overall first impressions:
• Screen is very nice, some wavy lines, but not too bad.
• D-Stick is a bit stiff, but I can see it loosening up after a few hours of use. I like the concave surface .. MUCH better than the gP32's loose, clicky stick.
• It feels very comfortable to hold, more than I expected. The battery 'bulge' actually helps the ergonomic feel, IMO.
Well, gotta go get ready for work. I'll install quake and the EMUs and report later on.
Peace out!
