Is Emulation Wrong?

The reason theres no xbox emulator is that it uses encryption along with a custom windows and directx, its as compliacted as the development of WINEhq.org because you have to rewrite everything.

What would be good is if somebody could host a site with roms of companies that have gone bust, like toaplan (then depends if the publisher is bust). it would be legal as the roms have gone pd to my knowledge.

Let's just say that whether emulation is wrong or right is conditional. Just like pushing old ladies over.

when is it wrong to push over an old lady? ill tell you what i told the police, she looked at me funny dammit!

Yeah, but if she didn't look at you funny and gave you a candy bar instead then it would be wrong, wouldn't it?

If strange people offer you candy bars it's best to push them over and run!

this has been an issue ever since i can remember. the best thing is to do your own discretion whether it be using the roms or not.

Nowt wrong with emulation. It's using the roms that's dodgy.I think everyone has to make a personal choice wether to use them or not.IMHO lots of dudes would miss out on a load of classic old games (especially arcade games) if there wern't any emulation.

I'm pretty sure scumm is a ported engine. It wasn't made to work like a whole nother machine, i.e. pc engine/tg16.

or use the excuse that they want to try out the game before they buy it. This is bad because games companies make a lot of money selling crap games that people would not buy if they had tried them out before hand.
You don't mean this, right?

no, i get his point, just because the game companies are gettin money at the game players expense doesnt mean that its a legitimate way to get money. If, thanx to these illegally played roms, the gameplayer isnt buying the game then its bad...

well.... scumm is an engine, but it is, in another way, an emulator too. It converts code written in one way to code for the GP32, which is basically what an emulator does, except that is convertong the code in the ROM to GP32 instructions....
