i now see (or don't see) why the backlight was worth the extra $50. it's so hard to fing a good lighting.

if your buying a gp32 and can afford it splash out on the backlight it really is worth it

Unless I am mistaken, that's 'Simon Lotion, Time and Motion Man' from the infamous Viz comic.

I just got my GP32 too, and I'm not missing the light as much as I thought I would. OK, I can't play it outside when its gloomy, or under the covers in my bed, but it works fine with the lights on. Maybe my house just has good lighting for it.

Although, I may have difficulties on trains, which is one of the main things I bought it for. And I will probably buy a light if one ever becomes available.

i have no probs on trains, i have a 2 hour train trip every wednesday, even when its night, i can still see it

Are you sure? I got mine from gbax.com, and they don't have one. I've looked at play asia, and had no luck there. I seem to be having problems with lik-sang.com at the moment, so I can't browse their site.

I've heard that they've been promising to release the kits they use to make the lit versions of the GP32 seperately, but they haven't done so yet.

there is a (back) light available. You can probably find it where you bought your gp32

Incorrect, there is no alternate lighting feature available for the GP32. Unless you bought the unit with the FLU included, your stuck without a light source.
There are ways of converting GBA wormlights to work on the GP32, whether you really want to is a different story......
