Yeah, Howl's Moving Castle was released on 23rd September in the UK, thinking about seeing it on Saturday, just want to know if it's any good from anyone who might of seen it...

Oh yeah, for those who are clueless, Howl's Moving Castle is the latest anime from the creator of Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, etc etc.

Spirited away is awesome.

I had the chance to see Howl's the other day, i saw 40 year old virgin instead.

Wish i hadnt.

edit -> spelling

Well I haven't seen a Miyazaki film I didn't like. In fact I think I've seen all of the studio Ghibli films now. My two favourites are Spirited Away, which is a simply awesome film and Castle In The Sky.

I just can't wait to see Howls Moving Castle, I'm so excited :)

I have seen spirited away and castle in the sky and liked them both very much so i'm sure this will be good as well. Do you guys know when it is coming out in the us?

It's already come and gone in the US - it was a summer release (and it didn't do very well - predictably).

It's quite a good film with a surprising amout of humour in it. I'd rate it 8/10 or so I guess, but then I've never been a fan of Japanese anime. The English dubbing is actually quite good - the voice of the fire demon in particular was perfect. In this case, seeing a dubbed version would probably be as good as seeing a subtitled one (or better).

As far as I know all Ghibli films are released in the west as dubbed only. But they always get some pretty decent voice actors (kirstin Dunst was the voice of Kiki in 'Kikis Delivery Service)

Well, "Howl's Moving Castle" was released both dubbed and subtitled AFAIK.

cool. However, unlike most anime purists, dubs really don't bother me. In fact if the voice acting is good (as they have been in all ghibli films) I prefer them

Yeah, I heard it was better than lots of people make it out to be too. I read an article which said that lots of people expect it to be really bad just because of the name.

That was me. :D

I was quite surprized when the good reviews started appearing... I mean, everything about the movie just screamed "pointless fluff flick" - the name, the ads, just everything. :ph34r:

Most anime purists don't mind dubs in general, it's just that anime dubs are usually so terrible that they avoid them by association.
