I have checked the Pyra wiki, as well as google search for a while, but I haven't found the meaning / pronounce of "Pyra".
Would you please give me some background story and the pronounce (International Phonetic Alphabet) of this big word?

Well, ED used to say "Pir-Rah", but more recently he's been saying "Pie-Rah"

There's probably a thread about it somewhere, but I think it comes from Pyro, meaning fire, which Dragon's are often purported to breath (Could be wrong on this)

In Greek mythology, Pyrrha (/ˈpɪrə/; Greek: Πύρρα) was the daughter of Epimetheus and Pandora and wife of Deucalion. Also, flames: Pyra is greek for pyre.
Thanks for your detailed explanation. I'm trying to add this information to the Pyra wiki, however my forum credential does not work for wiki log in. How-to contribute to the wiki? And if possible, I would like to add Chinese translation to the wiki.

No worries. Just copy-pasted wikipedia ;)

I haven't used our wiki yet. Surely somebody more knowledgable than me will chime in and explain what's needed for access.

I like pie, I don't care if it's wrong.

Since ED has said it the way I prefer I take that as an official pronunciation.

Also, in the libre and open source world you are supposed to have a name where everyone disagrees on how to pronounce it. Even "libre" gets pronounced differently in different countries/regions (I go with Spanish).

not sure why your login won't work. you're trying this page?

it may be there's a bit of lag between when you sign up here and when you're allowed to post there... but i'm not sure either way.

I think it depends on which language you are saying it in. I say "pie-ra" in English, but "peer-a" in French.
I've always thought that if it sounds better to you, you're probably saying it right.

I pronounce it like She-Ra
Its sounds more accurate, and more epic... not like a cheap clone that uses the "Pi" name of the Raspberry Pi to get some attention...

Addendum here (there was a like for the first part, I would like to point out the "like" this post received could be NOT for this second part)

also... this way it sounds more like the wee U (pee rah), as the control also looks like a nintendo...
While drá-gon-box is 3 syllables like gé-ne-sis. So Pyra has blast processing too..

The subliminals are maybe subjective, but are still present none the less...

Being Greek, I can tell you that the absolutely correct way to pronounce this word is 'Pir-RAH', stressing the second syllable. Despite that, I've pronounced it 'PIE-rah' during conversations. And no, it didn't even cross my mind to make the connection with Raspberry-Pi.

Ahh... so it's pir-Rah.. like shiraz/Syrah and THAT is why it's got that wine colour! And the prototype is transparent, like ouzo!

Just add some water and an ice cube, and you're good to go!
Ouzo is transparent straight out of the bottle, but you're not meant to drink it like that. Adding water makes it opaque / frosty.
