How do I install Linux driver on the Pandora?

The bit you've highlighted is just it finding the device connected to it.  It doesn't mean it can necessarily do anything with the data sent over that connection, as far as I know.

The lines starting at 179ish look like they might be telling us something.  Or that might be some other device - I'm a little lost between all the part numbers floating around here.

In your earlier ifconfig output, I don't know what that usb0 interface is.  I don't have one on my Pandora, so maybe it's your dongle thing?  Try 'sudo ifconfig usb0 inet <ip addr> up' and see if it does anything then.

I doubt the interface name is usb0.

You should try to report commands output from your main PC, where the dongle is working, so we'll have extra info.

Wow how complicated, maybe my Tip is the easiest and best Tip :)

Search for precompiled Linux Firmware Files for your Dongle.

Copy them simply to /lib/firmware

(Sometimes need it the directory name, sometimes not)

Stick in your Dongle and enjoy..

(But dont forget to activate USB Host Function)

...but when nothin happen,is your Stick maybe USB 1.1 Combatible and that cause must you use a USB Hub on the Pandora and stick your Dongle in the Hub.

With this Way got i 3 differrent USB Wlan Sticks to work here :)

Thanks, will try when I get home from work tonight.

What do you mean "precompiled Linux Firmware Files"?  Is that the one (source code) I attached in my first post of Page 1 of this thread?  If so, just place the whole thing in /lib/firmware?

When i am at Home will i try to find precompiled Firmware for your Wlan Dongle ;)

Btw can you please post the last 20 Rows from your Dmesg Output after sticking the Dongle in?

Activate USB Host,
Stick your Dongle in,
Open a Terminal and type dmesg

The last 20-30 Rows say you that the Pandora maybe detect your Dongle or not.
When its detected, need we mostly only the Firmware Files in
/dev/Firmware/

Edit:

I searched long and found out that you have RT2870 and found the Firmware Files.

Extracted them from the Deb Archive and putted it in these Rar File.

http://qemu.openpandora.org/PandoraOperatingSystems/Railinkfirmware.rar

extract the Files into /lib/firmware and maybe it wok then ;)

good Luck ^_^

As dmesg doesn't show any errors, I would assume it's simply the wrong driver.
Thank you.  So is the source code I posted on the first page the right one? It just needs to be compiled into Pandora land?
I don't know. The only hint to the chipset is your wiki link. As this is not official, it may be questionable if the information is correct.

Isn't that what Notaz did?  Timestamps indicate he uploaded it just before he posted the link, so I assume it's based on your source link.

Oh it does not work?

Hmm no Errors visible with this.

Maybe Squeeze is fault.

It maked me ever angry when i unpack things with Sqeeze and ever ist there a extra Directory with the Name of the packed File.

Please extract the Files and copy only the Files without Directory in /lib/firmware

Maybe you used Squeeze then have you /lib/firmware/Railinkfirmware/

and then its on the wrong Place.

When that not work cannot i help more, worked here with 2-3 Wlan Dongles but sometimes was the Firmware File on the wrong Place. ^_^

Last Tip,it seem your Device Driver work and is installed,

but i miss in your dmesg the: "Registered new Network Device Wlan1"

or near Message.

Maybe someone know the Command to register your RT2870 as new Network Device manualy

Yeah I just compiled sources from from the first post.

By the looks of it it's simply a driver for some different chip.

This page looks like it may have drivers for the MT7610U.  http://www.mediatek.com/_en/07_downloads/01_windows.php?sn=501  I did not try to download them because I wouldn't know what to do with them anyway.
Yeah, thanks.  That's where I downloaded the orgininal version V3.0.0.1.  But now they have a newer version just posted 9/13/2013 (wife's birthday :D ), version V3.0.0.4.

Yeah I just compiled sources from from the first post.

Mr. notaz, would you mind give it another chance with V3.0.0.4?  Maybe wife has something to do with this sucker? :D   Sources attached

Just want to note that the new driver is for MT7601U not for MT7610U ;)
