My Flu light has slowely been getting dimmer the past coupld of weeks. I just turned it on to try out reesy's new update (which is awesome by the way you the man reesy) and the light is so dim I can barely see the screen. Is the light going out? and is there any way to fix it?

it sounds like your flu has the flu!

no, sounds a lot like what happened to my old flu, worked great for around a year and then the light became dimmer and dimmer until a few days later it made a fizzing sound and then just 'pop'. After that the light wouldnt switch back on again.]

Sounds pretty terminal, though have you tried hooking up to a power supply and fresh batteries? - just the usual.

yes 3 different types of batteries. I have use all 3 kinds before. New alkaline and 2 different types of rechargables. Is it possible to replace the light with some sort of kit like the way you could put one in a gba? I cant believe it just broke. Especialy since super nintendo runs so much better know. I am getting a gp2x but I had no intentions of getting rid of my gp32.

i've heard of this before, aparently leaving the unit on for an extended period fixes it. but i'm not entirely sure of the exact details, but do search the forums a bit and i'm sure you'll find the solution.

well i had a NLU for almost 2 years before I got my FLU and it is way better than the GBA, which I also own. The FLU screen reflects just as good and the picture is still easy to see in moderate lighting, so even if your FLU light does die, its not a total loss.

If my BLu+'s light would die, it'd be completely useless... Blu screens are garbage when unlit :(

Could it be a bad connection? I'm not sure if the symptoms fit that, but people here have mentioned that the wires for the light are quite flimsy. It could be worth opening it up and having a look if you're feeling bold?

I took it apart and all the connections were solid. Jaw is the front panel the actual light part? and will that work if I use the light guide and lens I allready have? I would definatly pay postage for that if it should fix it.

This may be just a temporary fix but if I bypass the resistor it gets bright like it used to. should I replace this resistor with the same one or should I get a bigger one. I dont want to get rid of the resistor completely but if the light is basically gone and giving it more juice is the only way to turn it on I will do that. I dont know how to read a resistor with 2 gold bans. Is there something special about it? it sure doesnt look like yellow. My roomate didnt believe me until he looked at it

Lucky you I have just had 1 month of Electronics I class! :p

Do you know how to read resisters without the gold band in the 3rd idk row? If so you take the first 2 numbers (lets say red and orange making 23 ohms right) well now the gold means you mulitply the 23 by .1 so it is 2.3ohms (silver is .01) also the last gold band means that it should be within 5% of that 2.3ohms. If it is not within that 5% range then you have a bad resister and I would just replace that and see if it works.

OMG I am so happy, I actualy used this for somthing! *dances around room*

So are you saying that possibly, the resistor just went bad?

LEDs don't just "go out" like a lightbulb does. LEDs can last an extremely long time. The only time an LED burns out is if too much voltage goes to it or someone smashes it or something like that.

Now I'm worried about MY FLU... :S
