I just got myself a splendid Fridge from the 50s.
I was wondering how big the power consumption difference would be?
I mean the fridge on the inside is a lot smaller than our modern ones ... and its only 5 foot tall compared to my ancient fridge ( 5foot 6inch ) that my girlfriend moved away with.
Some tell me its going to be enormous and others tell me that the ecological side that people keep coming up with fridge older than 10 years old are just a marketing thing.

So what do you guys think?
Should i keep the fridge... or sell it to some cinema production thing for a crazy price?

Read the label on the back which tells you the current consumption in wattage and compare it with a more modern fridge. Obviously the fridge isn't going to be running 24/7, so the actual amount will depend on the internal and external temperatures and whether the seals are still good.

Switch it on with a temperature probe inside and a killawatt on the outside.

Or, just sell it to some cinema production thing for a crazy price.

Thank you Squidge for such a precise answer!
For the label thing its mostly faded so that's a no-no.

i'll call my dad and tell him to bring his Kill-a-watt! ( Killa whuuutt ).

You could always replace the ancient electrics (inc. compressor, elements) with new ones. Best of both worlds! Not a trivial task though, a rebuild like that would probably cost you more than a brand new fridge.

Either way, congratulations on having fantastic taste. :D

May I request pics of said frigo?
