Hands up who didn't see this coming..

Yeah something was in the works all right. Still a pc doesent really excite me. Why do some companies insist in trying to homogenise and blandify (not a word) consoles. Still im sure valve will do a little something more than just a 'pc'. Jeri ellsworth joined them recently, she did the c64 on a chip project and is self taught and not bad on the eyes either. ;)

I think it's a good way of spreading PC game awareness and popularity, but them trying to make it sound like computers being flexible is something new... is silly. I would be very happy if game console brands gave up on their own personal systems, and made and sold computer games. As games' graphics and intelligence advanced *for reasons besides paying for the next console upgrade* they might require better and better hardware to run perfectly, but not to run at all. Games would be released with recommended specification sheets like most computer games already are. Game companies could even release crappy dedicated gaming computers for customers who don't have a good enough one yet, or don't understand how to upgrade, or simply still want something with the same name brand as the game company and collect hardware artifacts like Askarus.

If Valve make a layer that enables them to easily port their titles from OpenGL->GLES1.1/2.x, I will be impressed. Until then, Valve has a bit of catching up to do, hardware-wise, with Pandora,GP2X,Wiz,Caanoo,&etc. Oh no, wait, those hardwaredevices didn't go nuclear, because: software.

Oh shit, we're in for rough weather ahead!!!
