Well, I decided in 2010, this new year, I'd kick my rear into top gear, and I've decided I'm sick of just playing games- it's time to make them!

I present my first serious "Hello World" that goes above the norm.

Anybody else care to join me in my epic quest of knowledge?!

Corniness aside, any other finished works you'd care to share?

Nothing finished, but:

I'm working on a 3D toolkit / game engine.
It has an exporter from Blender to a Lua-based model format, and then the game engine loads those.

It even exports the transform hierarchies from Blender, which is nice for making machines. IIRC this video is of a robotic arm made in Blender:

I'm working on linking it with Open Dynamics Engine, but since physics engines aren't very hierarchical in nature, I have to basically make an entire second scene manager.

Here's a preliminary test of ODE / Lul Engine. The model is loaded from Blender, but there's still a lot of hacking to link ODE into it.

Eventually it will be an easy, seamless procedure of building something in Blender and loading it directly into a game world. Eventually.

Also, it doesn't support any kind of character animation yet... I'm just trying to build machines and the like. A small flight simulator would be really nice.

I've started a few dozen games over the years. I think I finished one. The fiddly bits, the tweaking and bug fixing, always bore me out, so I take a short break before working on it more. Then I take a slightly longer break. And then a longer one. And then I get distracted by another great idea and start working on that. I really gotta quit doing that.
