Ulexes said:I have been re-playing Sierra's POint and Click adventures series "Kings Quest", and will soon be adding QUest for Glory to the list. These were the first game si played as a kid on my 386 pc. It's liek being young again... except for the arthritis, the receding hairline and the back pain...
I feel you although my first PC was an Apple 2e, which my folks have AND still works. (even the printer with the tractor fed paper too!)
I was jealous of friends who had IBM pc's with dos and had awesome games. I remember playing Ultima 6 on a friends, and went out and bought the game that week even though I couldn't play it! I kept it for years until my folks got a Mac that had a "power PC Dos card" add-on. It was a whopping 75mhz with 8MB of shared ram between the mac and PC side. I spent hours and hours messing with config.sys and autoexec.bat to squeeze out enough ram to play "Wing Commander 3" when it came out.....well, at least Xcom1 worked like a charm still!
Don't forget to check out the kings quest and Quest for Glory remakes done by AGD interactive, available for free download on their website: http://www.agdinteractive.com/games/games.html
Also don't forget the great 'Police Quest' 'Space Quest' and 'Leisure suit larry" series also!
