Sorry for like, posting forum topics about n64 emulation and the 200 processors n such,
but i dont think as much flaming and n00b calling and stuff should be going on in here,
i mean, one of the reasons i bought the gp2x was of the apparant "great community behind it" and a couple of questions get asked by me and my happy little topic becomes a 5 page long shout-a-thon?

I honestly dont know a thing about any kind of harware of software things
(i just resently realised theres an amazing thing on pcengine called "overclocking" lol ^-^ )
so im sorry if i have to ask about it, just stop the shouting and fighting please
i thought we'd all be happy and rejoyful, holding hands and singing, and gently helping along the common noob ^-^

THINK OF THE CHILDREN ^-^
and please dont spam this topic

I do agree with you about some of the childish behaviour that goes on here, but in my experiece it seems to be lower than your average forum. Also I know it has been said a hundred times, but just have a search through the forum before asking a question. Alot of the childish behaviour is more out of "asking a question that has already been answered 100 times" kind of thing. Personally though, I have nothing against these type of questions.

I hope your experience here improves, I have enjoyed my stay so far. :)

Lovin' the community, it's what makes the console unique. You won't get that on any other console.

Oh, you were being sarcastic?

You teach a dog not to piss on the carpet by rubbing its nose in it. Posting dumb or redundant topics is like pissing on the carpet of the internet.

I thought this carpet smelt funny... Next time, get a laminate floor! Honestly, there's so much money on the internet, you think they'd be able to get a proper floor...

I must say, in the gp32 days, this forum was much friendlier...
but also much smaller, this is just one of the problems with large forums.

^-^ see nice people like aapje help out silly nubs like me, i understood that alot compared to that other guy talking about dog piss

Just because you joined in March 06 it doesn't mean this forum wasn't here before you joined. Use the search function before you create new threads about emulating systems. Chances are your question has already been asked.

The GP2x is a device for which the majority of marketing was regarding Emulation-- meaning it will attract 'emulation enthusiasts' (see: 13 year olds with no social skills who just want free games). If you don't put such people in their place they WILL keep posting inane worthless bullshit and make the quality of discussion on the board much lower than if the idiots were shut up and dealt with. As Lowtax put it, in moderating a forum "you can either be gay, or Hitler. Hey, I'm gay hitler!"

Sorry but this comes across as if you are saying that aapje is a nice person because he helped you out, How ? , He said the GP32 forum was smaller and freindlier.
I'm also pretty much new here but i haven't had any problems because i have manners, It is common knowledge and good manners to use a search function before asking questions, That is not just here but any board online.
I mean if the question is so important to you then why not just look for the answer instead of expecting to be told ?
I dont really see a single point to this thread other than to get people to argue, You pretty much slag off an entire community just with the sarcastic title for something concerning an entirely different thread i haven't even looked at yet but i'm fairly certain the entire community didn't give you problems that warranted the thread title.

Also using terms like noob and nub? for yourself to try and get some kind of leeway is very childish.

Do you really think the 13 yos have the time and money to invest in something like a gp2x, when mum and dad will just coffup for endless ps2 games?

13yos reading read mes, knowing how to format an SD card with out killing the PC... i'm amazed...

You dont need to be rude and we where all new at something once in our lives and needed help with something. It takes just as much time to write a nice comment than a horrible one, try being nice once in a while and helping people...

But then again at 37 maybe I should not be an 'emulation emthusiast' who was probably emulating before you where born !

:D

well he is probably right in making an elitist statement since it was (I suppose) meant to make you guys realize how elitist you are being towards the so called noobs... And, as we are already talking in anarchist terms, this is also pretty hierarchical... nobody should be treated like an idiot because they just joined or asked a dumb question. Yes, these questions are annoying, but just think of all the time you need to phrase an appropriate insult compared to how much it would take to simply copy and paste the url of the topic where the question has been already answered... very much more productive and (oh yeah, libertarian anarchists rule!) progressive...

Generally speaking, the community here are nice people. The problem, I think (unfortunately) is that nice people get tired of posting the same answer time and again long before less than nice people (read: flamers) do. This is possibly because writing a flame can be fun, or possibly because flames are all identical pretty much anyway, so the flamers are used to boredom, whereas the nicer people aren't.

The inevitable result is that those who give polite answers just ignore threads that they've seen a thousand times before, whereas flamers jump in and pounce on their new prey.

It's not helped at all by the need that those one-time newbies who got flamed when they turned up sometimes feel to act superior to the next generation and flame *them*. Vicious circle.

Apologies if it's happened to you, but when a lot of ground has been covered before on a 6000+ member forum (or are we at 7000 yet?) I suspect it is inevitable, no matter how good the ratio of non-flamers are to flamers. All I can suggest is to read the faqs and use the search function (clicheed though such a response is) before posting - and say that you have done. Just don't be surprised when someone posts a link to another thread as a reply...

EDIT: Oh, and I beat you, Nickmon :p

I agree about some people being nicer, but even I myself have been guilty of getting pissed at people who ask stupid questions and then act as though they're right and people like myself who flame them and get angry are wrong.

I know it can be annoying to use the search function, but please do it. For our sake and yours.
