Gpx2 Has Just Broke

yeah your old batteries are still probablly good too, the drop off rate on alkalines are different from NiMH. The alkalines start to drop off slowly(dropping below a usable rate in the gp2x) as NiHM stay at a high end until they just drop off(until the battery dies). Your alkalines will most likely still work in other devices such as remotes and things. :p its all on the wikipedia.

oh....right errrm there in the bin *fishes for batteries*

murphy245,

Hmm ... after reading all that "angry stuff" , just because something did not work by itself (Yes , you need to cooperate with your GP2X sometimes , he needs your love) , I must confess that I wished your Gp2x was dead , but it is just a bad reaction of mine , I am sorry for that.

If I would give you some really really good advice , I would suggest to you to read ALL POSTS in the "help" forum , because you will likely have some if not all problems that we all had to endure with lots of patience.

Things that you better not do right now BEFORE doing your homework :

- DON'T try to upgrade the firmware without really knowing what you're doing (or about to do)

- DON'T use just ANY power supply , look in the forums to see what you really want to get for your lovely Gp2x

- DON'T try to open it without a real need to.

And ... please , be carefull when inserting a headphone in the first time ... you might experience some really annoying problems ... just a hint if you suddenly notice that the sound is gone and the headphone jack isn't there anymore , you HAVE TO TURN IT OFF for safety :)

Anyway , I don't mean to get you upset , but I am sure you will be if any of those (and other) things start happening with you. By the way you sent those messages in this forum which is really really friendly , I would recommend you to go back to *intendo or whatever , and place your Gp2x unit somewhere safe until you reach at least 10 years old.

Sorry for the sarcasm, I really could not hold it.

BUT ... I really wish you calm down , and get addicted to your gp2x , just as all (or most) of us.

LOVE AND PEACE ! ! ! (trigun)

your english is actualy better than mine :D well im stil faced with the problem of connecting the dam thing to the pc,seen as im pissing every1 off il work it out for myself
And we're a forgiving bunch - we've seen worse trolling ;)

Is it a Mk2 (is the back label in Korean)? If so, you shouldn't be getting any USB issues.
Until I bought a dirt-cheap SD reader I was using the GP2X, but it's not as fast as a dedicated reader (which is fair enough). But now I code for the GP2X, I have the USB and an adaptor plugged in (would love a cradle for it), with both Samba server and client running at all times - and good speeds.

What OS are you running?

It should be noted that the USB cables appear to have an unusually high failure rate (mine was completely non-functional, and several other people told me theirs was, too) so you might want to try asking for a replacement.

Most people would advise getting a card-reader anyway, though, as it seems to be faster and more reliable.

Best of luck!
