Paradox
oh em gee
it would be a good idea, however i'd rather risk it as i myself have had no problems updating at all whatsoever
From following this debate I get the impression it would have been. DJWillis, ED and Craigix were on the brink of getting us a solution that would have also meant a good relationship with the Koreans. Then the 'GPL nuts' got this /.ed without first researching what the situation with DJ, ED and Craigix was. The subsequent barrage of phone calls, abuse and emails to those involved may well have delayed it.isnt 1.3 meant to be out like now?
Show me the 'GPL nuts', do you use hate words like 'nigger' and ' faggot' and 'communist' etc etc.

Umm, that's a bit OTT, don't you think?
um, emphasis on OTT
An equally plausible interpretation of last week's events is that the furore over the Slashdot article finally forced the Koreans to get serious about the GPL. Which of these two interpretations is correct? I don't think it's helpful if people are getting abusive messages, but the fact that abusive messages have been sent doesn't mean that the recipient has a right to not comply with the GPL.From following this debate I get the impression it would have been. I think anyone who tries to create a hate figure, to shift blame from the real problem. Is a tried and tested method. Pick your own killing of millions people who did this, Craig and others are in good company. Who is responsible? I'll tell you Craig, GPH, Dignsys. DJWillis assumed the resposiblity and if he was surprised by the resposes he got he shouldn't have been. In reality he should be the voice of those e-mails put in a diplomatic manner.
What Craig did in that letter was "Nasty", and the fact anyone would fall for such noncence and spread hate is sick.
We are now trying to patch up the damage done by idiots who read the slashdot post and decided the best course of action was to write childish abusive emails to various people not even connected with the software development. Smooth guys, real smooth.
Actually, I thought that Craig's letter was referring to the slashdogs blatantly sending lots of hatemail to GPH, him, etc instead of dealing with it in a civil manner. Stop taking this so damned personally, the way you write your posts seems like you are baiting people to flame you. You seem to be spreading the hate pretty thick yourself.
Where's the nasty?
Allan.
I see *months* of nothing, one slashdot post and things happen.
Good for you. I suspect you are the only one - Craig has been nothing but helpful to myself and heaps of other gp32x'ers, so I see no real reason why he would start being dishonest now.
Allan. (ps Hanz, your quoting while marvellously cryptic could be taken in many different ways.. how did you intend it? )
'GPL nuts' is not my term, it has been used before and was quicker to type than 'caring individuals' while clearly identifying a group. Since when did communist become a slur akin to faggot and nigger ? This is the kind of sloppy, emotive thinking that has driven this frore. From following this debate I get the impression it would have been. Show me the 'GPL nuts', do you use hate words like 'nigger' and ' faggot' and 'communist' etc etc. If you are refering to the good people who complained, and it seems a happy conincidence that the source release announcment coinsides with the complaint. If Craig, GPH want the source release just as much they would undertsand the feelings of those involved and be sympathetic, again I doubt if they have any interest in a release
WTF ? It has barely been out for two months. But saying weeks would not have the same impact, would it?I see months of nothing, one slashdot post and things happen.

Given that DJWillis, ED and Craigix are directly in contact with the Koreans I tend to put more credence in their posts than in those of the 'caring individuals'. Both Craigix and DJWillis clearly indicate that a cooperative and satisfactory resolution was 'days away from getting everything sorted out'. They both have indicated that they now feel the relationship they worked so hard to foster with the Koreans has been 'shot to hell' by these 'caring individuals'.
The blogger who sent his link to slashdot, whose research didn't extend to emailing Craigix, ED or DJ to actually find out the current situation, then posts in reply to DJWillis revealing that he can't even extract the correct meaning from a simple paragraph.
It just seems to me that a lot of ill informed 'caring individuals' have not helped the situation at all but are contining to delude themselves into thinking they have. I suspect at some level they know this and are trying to make Craigix look like the bad guy to deflect attention from themselves/ justify their stance.
Good for you."Nigger" is not my term, and has been used before, but I don't use it.
A communist is a person who adheres to a particular political dogma. Like democrat or facist. Although I concede that if you are American you will have a culturally indoctrinated paranoia associated with the term. I overlooked that possibility."Communist" is a slur thats increadibly well documented
and is often used today as a slur in the name of certain propriaty companies.
I have not said any thing to the contrary. I was just giving my take on the situation arising from this issue. It seems to me that this whole business has been counter productive and could have been avoided if people had checked with those in the know.I write my posts becuase I have read Craig's posts and read DJWillis comments, and the fact that the source wasn't released. The situation was increadibly simple, people who have made money off the device haven't released the source when asked "lots and lots of time, by many people" and to add insult to injury released incomplete sources, and that is still the state of play today!!!
By making Craigix, without whom the GP2X would be some unknown Korean handheld, look like the bad guy.How are they trying to deflect attention from themselves?
It is in the sentence FCS.trying to make Craigix look like the bad guy to deflect attention from themselves/ justify their stance.
It is in the post :are they the ones not releasing the source. What did they do? Do they kick cats? Who are they? Your trying to shift the blame too, but there is nobody.
They both have indicated that they now feel the relationship they worked so hard to foster with the Koreans has been 'shot to hell' by these 'caring individuals'.
Yes, again it is in my post. The point is using 'months' when referring to a period of about two months should really be more specific unless you are trying to exaggerate your 'point'.Its been months.
