love that idea of the TV out option, that would rock.. could anyone offer this mod.. like mashmods? hmm, actually.. you'd only need a lead, right? and it'd fill the screen without pixelation.. much like Snes or genesis..

I'm guessing Mr. Spank would want this idea of his in there, too:

I want to see someone gut the SMC and replace it with a flash memory drive (like a memory key) of 512 or larger.

It should fit, just need some programers to get the firmware to recognize it, and someone who would know how to integrate the hardware. And a USB extension would connect it to the PC and PC would recognize it as a memory key so you could just drag and drop your data into it. That way we could have larger games and emulators. Great for the 3D games in the works. And with a larger HD we could store larger video and audio files. this should be 100% possible! Flash drives are small, and with some sodering and some programing and maybe a new rear or top case molding, and POW a GP32bBlu+

Any one inspired? Any takers? Can my mod be for free since I posed the idea?

His idea is cool, also:

Ok here's my idea:

I want to make the GP32 a handheld able to transmit to a television wirelessly.

[A similar example is the Top Guy portable that is exceedingly rare]

Like the Top Guy, I want to use a small low power transmitter that has a signal between 54 to 88 MHz (VHF CH 2-6 ) and has its own power source. I found one here (http://www.northcountryradio.com/Kitpages/lptvx.htm). The only problem is that the standard NTSC video and audio signal (coming from the GamePark) needs to be converted into AV outputs before being transmitted.

This being said, one would need to convert the signal from the GP to an AV output before plugging into the transmitter.

The only solution I can think of is refurbishing an AV jack from a GameAXe and getting an AV cable (http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=182&products_id=1446)

that would then plug into the transmitter.

Is this worth my time?

prompt response time, I like that, shows initiative, and maybe insomnia!

The GP64! Must have a dedicated back light button, for sure. Extra action buttons, OF COURSE! But are 2 more enough, I would prefer 3x2 ABCXYZ to play fighting games and the late Genesis and 32x games. Buttons would be smaller maybe to fit them. It would be great if someone emulated the Saturn or PS1, then there would be no button shortage. I don't like the N64 style joystick that the 32 uses, I would one more like on the zodiac, and a D pad under it. D pad is a must to play emulated games from the classic systems.

A touch pad, like on a laptop I guess (?) would be a interesting feature. I think it would be cumbersome thhough. Just extra stuff that wouldn't find any use in general application of the GP for gaming. Wouldn't work with most consel emulators, maybe for PC ports to double as a mouse...

VERY IMPORTANT a lithium ion battery that is replaceable. Long lasting, rechargable battery, but when it starts to lose its charge, no need to refurbish, just buy a new one and replace it yourself.

I want the new one to have a built in HD or flash drive, and a port for CFC. Why CFC, because they are cheaper than SD and can hold about the same amount of data. WiFi adapters exist for both SD and CFC slots, so that could double as a port for modem/online attachments. I think having a dedicated HD and memory card slot is important because you want to have a core set of programs and games, and a set of large games/programs that you can switch with out connecting to your PC to manage though the link. Especialy if you love your emulators but you also love some new homebrew that uses 3D graphics or you decide to watch a movie that wouldn't have fit on with all your other goodies. Of course

Blue Tooth should be standard for multiplayer play.

I don't believe in mics. It should be gaming device first, everything else secound. Nitendos latest toy is full of gimics. Its a bad idea. I don't want to yell at my precious! Besides no one knowing what you are playing, they will wonder why you are yelling at it!

I would take out the speakers and leave the headphone jack. Today I was playing it in a club room, and people were complaing about my music (no appreciation for Ninja Gaiden for SMS, best 8bit version) and I had trouble hearing it due to everyone elses video games and conversations. I think it should save the space and battery power by having sound only through headphones.

I can see a CDROM adon. Go into the USB or extension port and a wire into a CD player type of device, preferably with its own power source, like a real CD player. And it could play CDs for Turbo Grafix CD, Sega CD, Jaguar CD, Saturn, PS, 3DO. That would be super.

Although broadcasting your GP is cool, its not very practicle from my experience with other devices that transmit to another device. And wiith all these adons, our device is pretty clunky. I will stick with the GPPH as mentioned in the "nomad inspired" post. Check it out for details. If you are going to play on a big screen, you are probably not mobile, just my guess. So why not put it into a cradle/dock that will go to the TV via RCA wires, and attach a real controler to the cradle/dock and since you are playing it on a big screen, why not get your friends involved with more conrolers attaching into the cradle/dock. just like we talked about in 'nomad inspired'

alright its 3:40AM where I am, time to get some shut eye. feel free to add, act and react to this stuff.

Rock and Roll Blah! Rock and ROLL!!

A proper USB 2.0 (or 3.0?) port would be nice. There are things ranging from cable modems to keyboards to tv-tuners for USB... Just needs the software support.

What is a IDE slot?

It`s an Intergrated Drive Electronics slot, The type of slot that the hard drive, Cd-rom, Dvd etc in your computer connects to.

This is in "Cool Ideas and other wishes :)"...It's not meant
to be totally serious. I put all the crazy ideas in one place :).

And rather than a Lithium Ion batter, I suggested this:
Can charge batterys via ac adaptor plug, or via usb pc power. Can play while charging.

In other words, you'd be able to put dead rechargeables in, plug the gp
into a pc or an AC-adaptor, charge them up, and play while charging B).

This would be made to support different types of rechargeable AA's
(NI-CAD, NI-MH, IC3, LI-ION, etc...). After all, what would you
expect for an overpriced handheld ;)

A proper USB 2.0 (or 3.0?) port would be nice. There are things ranging from cable modems to keyboards to tv-tuners for USB... Just needs the software support.

How about this?:

IDE slot.
How would it be powered? USB would be nicer... and support more.

Great ideas but scarily close to the Zodiac really.

I have a good idea for the new unit which should be backwards compatible, an LCD that works properly for ALL stuff.

Ok, no analog joystick :)

Touch pad would be nice for SCUMM, though.
