Hi everyone,
I just wanted to point out something, I feel you all missed. None of the systems mentioned are the 'best'. Yup, it's true not even my beloved GP32.. nope, no sir, simply the best gaming system on earth at the moment is the Commodore 64.
I mean, lets not even mention it's sexy sleek design and uber handy built in keyboard, lets just jump straight to the specs..
CPU: 6510 running at a blistering 1 Mhz... thats right MEGAhertz, not just normal hertz, but MEGA ones.
RAM: 64k, expandable to a rather hardcore 512k... YES you're reading this correctly I said SIXTY FOUR KILOBYTES of spine-crushing-blood-curdling-baby-killing memory.
ROM: 20k, and hows this for value, it comes with a complete development environment onboard... straight out of the box and your coding up your own 20 GOTO 10 apps.
VID: 320x200 pixels and capable of producing a stunning range of 16 colours. this stuff is so unreal, I couldn't possibly be making it up. An entire 8 sprites can be displayed at once, making any game on the C64 a psychodelic dream of colour and vibrance. Hell, i've see some nice paintings before, but nothing compares to the amazing rendering of tutan karmins goldern sarcofigas. simply unbelievable.
AUDIO: SID 6581, this piece of silicion artwork can pump out 3 voices at once and has a sweet ASDR feature. you want to know something even more suprising, it CAN PLAY BACK SAMPLED VOICES... you'll think the evil tower dude is sitting right next to you the 1st time you hear " another visitor... stay awhile stay foreveeeeerr" and it's no stinge on the bass either my friend. Just set that baby to 11 and wait for the windows in your house to start rattleing.
I know i might be ranting a bit, but since I bought a C-64 I haven't touched my GP32 or either of the two PCs. they just don't match up... no competition. I've messed with a nGage, and a GBA and it's ditto there as well, just frekkin lame compared to the C-64.
I just had to mention this, sorry to burst your bubble.
