The readme says:

1) base

insmod mmsp2_usbh.o
insmod usb-ohci.o
insmod usb-ohci-mmsp2.o

2) input device

insmod input.o
insmod hid.o
insmod evdev.o
insmod joydev.o
...

3) usb external storage

insmod scsi_mod.o
insmod sd_mod.o
insmod usb-storage.o

So if someone could tell us what this means???

those are all the command you need to load those modules to make the usb host works...

remeber that you need to connect only self-powered devices

(i don't try it , that's only linux knowledge :)

art103 has already got usb host to work, you should check the wiki more often, and perhaps hang out in the dev channel if you want to know more stuff as it's known (but please don't talk, there's enough mor^H^H^Hpeople talking shit in there as it is ;) )

Need to check the Wiki more often, you're right there, the schematic wasn't there last time I look....

Time for a trip to Maplins (well Farnells anyway)...

Then some time brushing up on/re-learning my C++ skills... Why are there not more hours in the day? :)

@Squidge, how many people do you think will understand the ^H thing? :)

The Prototype (on the wiki) is pretty cool I had a simular Idea with a four-port powered usb hub that I have up at the shop. Where do you get the cable with the right kind of plug? Would a place like radio shack have one?

So is this a zip of module drivers for the current kernel that weren't there?

This looks like a neat driver set, if the ext-mod isn't too difficult.

This sounds great had a look on wiki but this is way over my head, I will have to wait until I can just buy something that alows me to access an external drive/stick.

Totally depends on if the kernel module will load when paired with the stock GP2X kernel. Some on these forums have indicated that the method outlined in the wiki should and does create a module that will work with the stock kernel. It’s reasonable to speculate that the modules “made by south korea” will work with a stock kernel. However it is important to note that without that magical little box sitting between your usb device and the ext port this won’t work. Cleaning up the usb signal is none trivial.

As always, this would all be much nicer and cleaner if we had the up to date and complete source for the kernel.

^H is a delete char. on some older BBS's, when you deleted characters, the ^H would be sent along with what you'd typed before deleting... not too good when you're insulting someone ;)

at least, as far as i know, wasnt around in the olden days ;)

I remember ^H as what happens when you press backspace on an improperly configured terminal. (I has an old (mid 90) Sun Server in my office that had that problem...)
