Gp2x Has The Biggest Screen Size Among Handhelds

Yes, that's true even counting PSP in! If you're talking about emulators, they pretty much all use 4:3 aspect ratio whereas PSP is 16:9 wide screen. Therefore, 4.2inch PSP screen becomes 3.4inch with annoying black bars on left and right side for emulators. Another proof that GP2X is THE handheld for emulators.

I'm just wondering if you've used any emulators on the PSP? I only ask this because if you have and you've played with their setting on a few of them then you'd see that some of them do full screen emulation. That is even an option on a Super Nintendo emulator. Don't get me wrong I think that the GP2X will be great for emulation but the PSP does have a nice screen and at the moment it's a big screen for emulation. I think that if you count the TV-Out option though the GP2x would indeed have the largest screen :)

and what about the zodiac? :D

or the coming gizmondo 16/9 ?? :D

The zodiac requires ugly stretching or the screen is smaller than PSP.

The new Giz is like the "new Gamepark" is size and res so it is still smaller at 1:1.

Stretching looks like shit though. It makes stuff all distorted and blurry.

Who wants stretched out look??? Even on my widescreen TV, I hate the look of SD TV show stretched out making everyone looks, indeed, WIDE.

most of 16/9 TV owners i have ever met :D

seems they prefer stretching things than having 2 black lines,

i even remember having seen DEMO videogames in supermarket on 16/9 tvs in wide mode

but the problem with our screens is not the size as much as the resolutions, because size is one thing, but resampling pixels to not have a stupid window in the middle is another thing , that's what makes the good screens bad for emulators :D

Some how I think a lot of people with 16:9 are doing it for wide screen TV which isnt stretched it's just widescreen. That's why you get the letterbox on regular TVs.

No, it does not make it distorted. Stop talking crap out of your arse. It does not look anywhere near ugly. Just a little blurry, that's all.
Original:

This is how crappy pixel doubling would look:

And this is how beautiful it looks scaled on the Zodiac:
chronozod1.jpg

See, no distortion at all.
And if you don't like the horizontal stretching, there is also this option:(23,75% of the area wasted)
chronozod1a.jpg

For comparision, this is what the unstretched image would be on a GP screen: (25,333% of the area wasted)

Note that the screen size differences are not realistic since the GPs have bigger pixels than the Zodiac. That also means that an unstretched image would be bigger on the GP screens than on the Zodiac. I don't have any problem with scaling, though. Take a look at the above images and decide if you've got one.

Filters? It's just standard bilinear scaling...
I believe they call that a filter, m8.....
Oh, really? :D You learn something new every day... ;)

.

Hey,
I hate to butt in.

Ok I resized the second jpg to make it more like the PSP's 16:9 screen though I don't know if I should do that 'cause I don't know the screen resolution of the PSP.

I could definitely be wrong.

Just my worthless opinion.

See ya.

OrR, if you're trying to make a fair comparison then why don't you show the pictures in correct scale?

The Zodiac screen is 3.8" compared to GP32's 3.5" -- yet your pictures have the Zodiac twice the size
