Wow, they're being really conservative with their choice of software (for example, the latest version of SDL is 1.2.9, and while that's pretty new, 1.2.8 has been out for a while). I also read somewhere that the kernel they're using is from the 2.4 series, while 2.6 (which has a lot of optimizations for embedded devices like the GP2x) has also been out for a while. I hope they make it easy for people to upgrade their systems; SDL should be easy, cos it's just a library, but the kernel may be trickier, depending a lot on MagicEyes (binary-only device drivers provided by MagicEyes for a 2.4 kernel may or may not be compatible with a 2.6 kernel)
