Does anyone know whteher gamepark will even bother making a successor to the GP32? Did the original make much money for them? Any guesses at release dates?

there are a couple other threads already started about this topic which would suggest that there is going to be something. However, and I don't know much about GamePark, but if Gameparks only source of income was the GP32, then I doubt they would have enough money to make another system. The only thing I could think of is that they got some good investors and they will learn from the mistakes they made with the GP32. All we can do is hope until something more concrete comes along.

yeah but i bet they have enough money, the blu's were a great sucess

great success?? what do you consider great success? Being sold in a handful of online stores and maybe a couple of actual game stores is a great success?

for someone who isnt nintendo

btw: I bet craigix has got more games and systems than you

if i owned my own business and had enough money to buy $11,000 worth of games and system i would hope he would have more than me.

But for the average person, I have more games and systems than most.

It cost them next to nothing to make, and they got big returns +they get government grants. So they might well make another.

yeah, gamepark dont need big profits like nintendo - they don't have people like homer simpson to pay

I don't know if the GP32 is like every other system, but like almost every other system on the market, the money is not made by selling systems, but by the software. We all know GP32 is making money on software. The cost to produce an XBOX and PS2 was more than what they are selling for.

I work for a large supplier, not of game systems, but I understand the economics of it all. Lik Sang is a distributor, they sell the system for $179. They need to turn profit, so they probably buy the GP32 from Gamepark for $100 or a little less. I can't really imagine that they buy the GP32 from gamepark for over $100 because you try to make 100% profit if possible. Being that the system is being made in Asia where the resources and labor is cheaper, the system could probably be made for $50 or less. But you add in the cost to run a business, they can't be making much money on the hardware. Granted they spend no money on marketing, so that is not a factor, but they cannot be making that much money on hardware alone. Gamepark has to pay taxes for its property, electricity, heating, cooling, and lots of other stuff. And there are other expenditures that ones do not think about. Workers benefits for example. So again I will say, unless they are getting money from other places. I can't see that the money they got from the GP32 would be enough to fund a new project.

My company gets its product from China, so I know how much my stuff is produced so it helps me get a round about estimate on how much the GP32 could be produced.

EDIT: I'm also going to add this. Look at the N-Gage, huge failure, but not that big of a deal since Nokia makes so much from its other cell phones. As far as I know, Gamepark has no other product to carry it.

I'm sure they don't make much money on software .. ie: How many peopel here at GP32x have bought a number of official games?

ie: We probably all bought one or two, but there snot many to buy; certainly, they dont' make much per-sale at the rates they sell for, and theres not a lot of GP32 owners.. so they must do okay, but certainly not well, on software.

ie: Its very tough to make money on a system you sell where the biggest attractor is homebrew and emus .. ie: Killing your software.

So they must make something on the hardware or they'd be dinner :)

Or maybe they do okay on joygp etc, since the software was made long ago, so its just gravy since then..

i bet the GP32's are cheaper to produce than $50. did you know that Mars bar wrappers cost more to make than the chocolate bar itself.

LOL, workers benefits. they probably dont haveto pay all that much on said expenditures. they probably get government grants for the business to locate in certain areas of high unemployment (e.g they could get free rent)

I understand that, i was just trying to get the point across to the other people that were arguing with me that Gamepark does have other expendetures to pay for. Their workers don't work for free, etc.. etc.. like the other people sounded like they were implying.

As for the GP32 2. Sure they've made it, but it doesn't cost that much to make 1 or 2, but to mass produce it does take money. Money that I don't think they have or will have from just the money made from the GP32. So someone, please prove me wrong on this one for I would like to see their next system, but don't think its ever going to happen.
