Gngeo Tv Out Issue...

I am running an older (0.6.9 I believe?) because it seems this is the only version I can get Metal Slug X and 5 to run properly. I brought up what version I am using because I ALSO cannot get TV Out to work correctly. It's display is crushed to the left half of the screen.

Now, my question. Is there anything at all possible in the configuration files that I can do to get it to diaplay correctly? Or is this a bug in the older version? And if so, has it been fixed in the latest version?

EDIT: Or it just occured to me, maybe it could be firmware (v2.0) related?

I'm still searching why I have this problem with TVout. But there is a workaround: if you use rage2x it will work. Well, with gngeo 0.6.9, it'll not work very well anyway :(

I can't understand why mslug X&5 don't work with you. Can you try with a different dump?

I'm going to play with it some more when I get home. I am really determined to get the latest version working with these games. Odd tho that the very same dump I am using works in a previous version. Ohh well, I have many dumps archived...I'll go through them and hopefully get this working.

On another note, what is Rage2x doing that makes tv-out work? If it is only a frontend, I would think that all it is doing is providing an alternate GUI and helping to pass commands to Gngeo prior to launch.

I really don't know. I think that rage2x initialize some display regs better than me. The funny/odd things is that Rage2x and Gngeo2x use the same SDL lib AFAIK.

Interesting! Now I feel compelled to get to the bottom of this mystery. When I get home I am going to try to analyze exactly what Rage2x is doing that Gngeo is not.

Rage2x is a fine frontend, no doubt. I am just really not in to external frontends honestly. I would really much rather use Gngeo's own selector as my personal preference.

Actually, Selector can be seen as an external frontend too :) Rage2x is a lot more integrated IMHO

Thank you for the heads up regarding a fix for the TV-Out issue (in directing me to use Rage2x). The funny thing is (and I posted this in the other thread as well) is that I can only get the games in question to run correctly in v0.6.11 of Gngeo. On an even more odd turn, I can only get an older version (v0.5) of Rage2x to function correctly in various aspects.

Either way, I am up and running completely now. Quite honestly, the tv-out issue bothered me much more than the issue of not being able to run certain games with graphics in the very latest version of Gngeo. All of the games I have tested work absolutely fine now, and the TV-out looks absolutely fantastic.
