I tried to figure it out myself but after literally trawling the most obscure webpages in the universe I'm on the verge of a breakdown!!

The emulator acknowledges, accepts and loads the bios files and then evilness strikes and creates some form of digital iron curtain, that prevents the emulator from even seeing my roms let alone running them. There seems to be no A-Z guide on the emulator just a million fragments spread throughout cyberspace!!

You can play them in MAME4ALL

That's true but my MAME library is pretty big and the MAME emulators don't have any kind of filing system (that I'm aware of) so it would be ideal to split the Neo Geo files into another emulator reducing the amount of files in MAME4ALL making it more navigation friendly.

A few tips / questions that might help you get some answers :

Post Help & Support Queries in the support section.

Exactly which version of Gngeo are you using? (Provide link to PND you downloaded)

Which hotfix are you running? (unlikely to be the cause of the problem but you never know)

Where do you have your roms saved? (mine are in appdata/gngeo/roms)

or

Wait patiently for Pepone to get his Pandora and then produce the definitive NeoGeo emulator for a handheld system ;)

You can play them in MAME4ALL
you can only play a small number in mame4all and most are not full speed.

?

Which ones are not full speed?
blazing star pulstar metal slug 2 the compatibility in mame4all aint the best ie look at level 2 of blazing star notice how the background scrolls at half the speed of normal play this game in kawaks and fba and youl see an increase straight away.

Are you sure you're not just experiencing the same slowdown as you'd see on a real NeoGeo? The Metal Slug series suffers from this a lot - it would in fact be inaccurate if this slowdown was not present ;-) I'm not sure how GnGeo and others handle it, but in MAME4ALL you can overclock the emulated CPUs to reduce or eliminate the slowdown.

I think its a mame issue earlier mame builds seamed to not emulate these games correctly that has been rectified recently ie the game runs at 60fps but some effects run slowly ie the 3d background in blazing star level 2 is running at half the speed it should check it running on fba and especialy kawaks that is the original speed i owned a neogeo and these games for many a year and earlier mame builds didnt emulate them properly in reference to actual slowdown that happens in original game and (kinda adds too the charm of playing said system).

ps brilliant work on mame4all m8 hopefully well have a mame build that can emulate 68ec020 and sh2 at full speed and handheld mame emulation will have taken a massive bound forward perhaps an optimisation on 106.(just wish i could program!!!!!!)

man, if you really owned pulstar and blazing star, on an AES system.. respect.. that's a lot of money now :)

btw, in anticipation, what is the best way to experienc neo geo on the pandora, mame or gngeo ? especially for fighting games.

Kisses

I have Pulstar and Blazing Star MVS Neo Geo carts, and a 1slot and 4slot A board for them (arcade gear.) woot :)

GNGeo used to work great on pandora, but I've not tried it in awhile; is it broken, or user problem?

Do we have a CPS2 dedicated emu yet? It just occurred to me, and that we probably don't. Maybe I need to track down source for one of NJs builds or something, and port one over. CPS2 ftw :)

pretty please with cherries on top!

@skeezix - I take it that there'd be an advantage to that over using MAME 0.106 and overclocking as high as one's Pandora can go at stock voltage? :p (My CPS2 board collection seems to be growing lately. Just got another one today.)

Nice gear, Skeezix, I'm going to get a Neo Geo 4 slot A board soon, with some less famous/rare games than yours.

And right now, I hope to find a good soul with a car big enough to be able to get the generic european arcade cabinet I've found

Ooh, got any pictures of the cabinet? :D (Or at least one like it?)

She's a bit dusty, but globally in pretty good shape.

I'll have to modify the control panel because the button's disposition is awful.

Moreover I would like to fit seimitsu or sanwa buttons and sticks.

Later, she will probably get large stickers on the sides, because right now she is a bit too sober.

I want to design the stickers myself, they'll include the Neo Geo logo and a few classical videogames characters.

(and I'll have to find old Belgian coins from before the Euro

Nice cabinet - it's a *lot* nicer-looking than my recently-evicted giant, light-blocking JAMMA cab from the late 80s. I'm currently having a custom MAME cabinet built because I want to consolidate my boards, official emulated compilations, and legal downloads, in one smaller machine. I know some links for getting your custom artwork printed up, if that's of any help.

My understanding is that eBay is probably the best bet for the old coins - I know that folks with imported Japanese machines swear by it for picking up bundles of 100 Yen coins.

Final Burn Alpha.

FINAL. BURN. ALPHA.

"FBA" doesn't "mean" anything, as I recall; when I looked into it a couple years ago .. FBA was a project many years ago, and then it posted code, and everyone and their brother made a different port, and some of those kept growing and so on .. so now theres a dozen totally different FBA-this or FBA-that projects :)

So I lost interest :)

Prometheus -- still looking for any CPS2? You're in Europe? (Mine are all blue, NA region ones.) I'm thinking of getting rid of them .. I'm sick of opening them up and putting new batteries on them to avoid the battery of death :/ (I had one die on me, so replace the batteries every 7+ years or so :p )

The CPS2-specific emus tend to be just much better performing of course, than MAME; tooled to one chipset, rather than being generic.
