Do older Gmenu2X skins (for the GP2X) work with Gmenu2X on the Wiz? Seems like there's a short list of skins on the Wiz side.

No. They do not work. They are for a completely different firmware and hardware with a different set of features.

What? It should work. The ports should be similar enough.

Oh sorry. I didn't notice you were talking about Gmenu2x skins!
Yes, as far as I am aware they should work :) sorry for the inconvenience

Cool, I'll try 'em out after work. I had to delete my old Gmenu and start over with a new one, 'cause for some reason all the settings shortcuts disappeared in mine when I changed the "settings" section to "Settings." Now that I can change skins again, I want to try 'em all!

There are some known issues with gmenu, you might also want to try out win2x :)

Did you check the sections folder before deleting it? Perhaps gmenu created a new folder for your renamed section and didn't move the old links over.

I used Win2X for quite some time (even tweaked the Windows 95 skin a bit to make it more authentic), but it was far too limiting for me. I did check the Gmenu folders, the links just disappeared when I capitalized one letter. It all works now though.

My only problem now is the lack of USB connectivity. To connect via USB, I have to use AutoReallyRun Off to get out of Gmenu and back to the default frontend. Then, AutoReallyRun On to get back to Gmenu. Hassle!

Yeah, check out this link for the AutoReallyRun files:
http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?/topic/48812-autoreallyrun/

Basically, you download ARR and unzip the files to the root of your SD card. Make a backup of the autorun file that's already on the SD card (just in case), then run autoreallyrun_on. It'll tweak the autorun (while making a safe backup copy) so Gmenu will become the new frontend.

It isn't perfect; sometimes some programs will just kick you back to the default Wiz frontend no matter what. Also, some games don't run properly through Gmenu to begin with. If you wind up back at the default frontend, just find and run autoreallyrun_on or the gmenu2x.gpe to get back to Gmenu.

I've also noticed that Gmenu on the Wiz doesn't seem to let you do anything with a USB connection (other than charge), so if you need to connect it to your PC, run autoreallyrun_off to get back to the default Wiz frontend. When you run ARR_off, it restores the original autorun, so when you're done you'll need to run ARR_on again. It's a bit of a hassle if you need to do this regularly, but since I don't know anything about Linux programming, it seems to be the only option.

ALSO, the GP2x skins for Gmenu all seem to work just fine on the Wiz!

Groovy man, I just stick my SD into my laptop if im copying files so i only need the usb to charge which i have a plug for hehe. There was some other guys wrote a script for gmenu to make it default but I couldn't quite get it working. Check it out here you might be mroe successful :)

EDIT: AutoReallyRun is working a treat thanks!

Anyone want to try the monospace sfont I just made from WhiteRabbit TTF? Converted and cleaned as size 11 with 50 character GP2X spacing, probably more on WIZ. Don't have a WIZ so a screenshot would be nice. Just replace font.png. Not unicode.
