Giving the right impressions, being open-minded (split from GPD palmtop thread)

The argument I was making is like going into a nvidia lovers forum talking about ATI graphics cards. You'll get hated out of there, the atmosphere is just not welcoming. I am suggesting you'll get hated out of here for things unlike the Pandora.

I think the atmosphere is similar to any Linux forum though, but the disconnect comes with the disinterest in android which is Linux based. OSX (apart from iOS) gets more love in my perception. I feel mostly because it still retains its UNIX roots and is a true desktop OS regardless of it being a closed ecosystem. Windows gets hated for not having those UNIX roots, liked for its desktop OS, but overall hated out for its publishers business practices.

ad hominem or not, they did get very hot. To an outside observer it might look like we're quite unapproachable to criticism.
Perhaps that is how it seemed to an outsider. As a slight keyboard snob I wanted to make sure we didn't end up with the Pandora layout again, and I felt that most people that were heavily involved in mking layouts were very approachable. Sure, sometimes people would debate their way of doing something, but they were usually open to discussing it, and many times tried things out even if they didn't agree with it. I really appreciate the consideration I was given related to the keyboard (and am happy that we have an improved layout with a few things how I feel is best).

If those threads are the worst this place has to offer then people stopping by shouldn't be so sensitive. That is nothing.
