Genesis Games

My favourite game at the moment for GP32 is BOR. If you can make a working Genesis emulator at even a portion of the speed that you churn out BoR betas, I think everyone will consider you a coding god.

Hell i'd constantly worship you if you made either Super Hang-On, or Thunderforce IV playable.

Even though I cant see any proof in wheather this is true, I believe you as all others here do and I really hope you will publish that beast soon. :)

Roxor!

Streetfighter 2 CE, Super Streetfighter 2, Lion King, Streets of Rage 3, Earthworm Jim 1 & 2, Jurassic Park 2, Mortal Kombat 2 & 3, Primal Rage, Sonic 3D, Double Dragon V, Lethal Enforcers 1&2, Fatal Fury 2, Toy Story

These are the ones from my personal Genesis favourites that would miss the cut.

Well, frankly considering theres better versions on the SNES for most of these Id say sounds like a plan Squidge! Go ahead with the 2MB limit!!! :)

Someone do us all a favor and ban Samuel.

I am really appreciating you doing this Squidge, 2MB is enough for almost any game.
Any particular reason why? Do you want to be banned next time you blurt out something before you read a thread properly, then explain it later perfectly well? Thought not :)

Or even a single emu that detects romsize and determines which cores to use based on that - could be interesting, though I suspect the filesize would be huge...
Who cares? :p

Yay! That's me :D (Mua ha ha ha ha :cough:)

Edit: Problem with above: part of the idea of being banned is that U can't make new posts, so not many would see the avatar... unless they read a previous post (and yes - I do realise you're joking (lol))
Why on earth did I just post that?

cant be bothered reading all posts, but Sounds Excellent :D...

Why not make a Selector so when your wanting to play a ROM over 2mb you can set the ROM limiter thing to 3 or 4mb which will inturn reduce the space allocated to the 68k emulator and you can set the Frameskip to 1 or 2 or something then Overclock to 156 - 166 mhz to get back to full playable speed... (Would that work) ???

anyway... Im sure u will get around this problem somehow Squidge B) Keep up the good work

The size of the ram allocated to the 68k emulator is not something that can be changed on the fly - it has to be done in code and the rest written for that amount of space. At the moment, a 4mb rom on the current 68k core would require over 12mb of ram ! Definitely an excuse for a 32mb upgrade, but since most people don't have the upgrade, I don't think it's really fair to expect it.

Its way to early to describe any more of this emu later as I've not actually written any code for this yet - just diagrams, notes, how it would work, how it would fit together, pseudo code, memory requirements, allocation of resources, etc. However, it's certainly looking good so far.

Now, since I've bought a Megadrive + games, and have Sonic both on cartridge and as a rom dump, I tihnk this is going to be the first game to be compatible. Before that, it's going to be mostly pd-stuff that's easily to emulate.

I'll release something as soon as at least one (non-pd) game is playable as a kind of technology demonstration. No use boring you with half working pd-games!

what about making seperate .fxe's like megadrive2MB.fxe (For 2mb max Roms), megadrive3MB.fxe (Coded for 3mb max Roms) with Frameskip settings and overclocking function and megadrive4MB.fxe (you guessed it, for 4mb Max Roms) Etc... Or is this too much work ?????

Would that mean coding it twice?

(im a noob who knows nothing, why did I even comment?!)

Is there any possible way squidge? theres a lot of good 4mb games actually my favourites :( maybe overclocked for those? a seperate option?
