Gamescom 2019

Will mine be getting built at Games on then? If so, can you and whoever assembles it sign it on the inside of the plastics with you forum names?

I'm assembling them myself there and yes, it could very well be yours is being built there :)
Got enough US-Modem boards with me.

I don't have a pen here, but I can sign all preorder units inside the case before I ship them, that's a neat idea :D

+1
let the pyra gamescom edition pre-production flow!!!

Something like that ;)

My plan is to ask each pre-preorderer what he'd like, both in case and unit.
A fully usable one with basically final parts or an older hardware revision, case revision, etc.
The first one probably isn't much different compared to the final unit but the second one is more unique, with a few bugs, but maybe worth more as collectors item i the future.

The grey/black pyra looks very nice. Black outside grey inside. Can we get more pictures of pyra please :p

Pyras!

Probably it's running the linux version under ptitseb's new CPU emulator, but I can't be sure (and also can't bring to mind the name of that new bit of kit).

Ninjaed by the man himself. Box86 indeed.

And thanks for the photo. I always appreciate new pictures of pyras, and especially when they're actually running stuff. The only thing that could top that would be a video, but I can wait for those.

The latest grey cases had some of the near to last fixes right?

Now that there are a few assembled, how do the shoulder buttons feel from granite grey to granite grey units? I.e. are they assembling easy and consistently then working smooth right off or do they need to be customized and tweaked a bit to line up right?

Are the main boards seating properly now on the modified/added risers?

My plan is to ask each pre-preorderer what he'd like, both in case and unit.

The units and parts you're assembling at the show - do you classify these as:
A: "A fully usable one with basically final parts"
B: "an older hardware revision, case revision, etc."
C: ?

An exciting time!

Having FTL running is not surprising, considering there's a HTML5 build... That said, I like the idea of being able to play it without a browser,

My plan is to ask each pre-preorderer what he'd like, both in case and unit.
I take it you mean prototype pre-(pre-)orderer there. As a non-prototype pre-preorderer who's upgraded to be a pre-orderer I'm hoping for a released unit, which might have early adopter troubles but be basically there in as many aspects as possible.

The case felt smooth and the trigger buttons are clearly distinct, you clearly know which one is which.
I got to try a few Pyra nubs and the one in the clear case where butter smooth.

Some more pics.

Big titles have a (big) dedicated section:
title_apex.JPG
APEX legends, a free to play game you probably already know as it's released for a while: https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends
title_foundation.jpg
Foundation, also already available: https://www.gog.com/game/foundation
title_deathstranding.jpg
Death stranding, it had a story trailer (~20min). It looks nice but I still don't understand the story yet.
title_farmingsimulator.jpg
Farming simulator is popular, but other titles appear to have drawn somewhat more attention on gamescom.
title_nfs.jpg
Sometimes people bring real cars, like NFS Heat.
At least this has something to do with gaming, Mercedes just had a newly released consumer car somewhere.
title_forza.jpg
Forza's Lego DLC was playable on different locations, here is a dedication section. I enjoyed it, not sure who thought it would be a good idea to mix these two games but it works quite nicely.

What kinds of brands do you find on Gamescom?

brands_unreal.JPG
Unreal, they obviously have a popular game engine and they show it of here with some smaller titles (possibly Indie, I haven't checked).
brands_kojima.JPG
Kojima has it's own booth with merch, I think this would also be the place to meet and greet Kojima himself.
brands_xbox.jpg
Microsoft has a large section and this portion is dedicated to Xbox.

brands_dxracer.jpg
You see a lot of gaming chairs at Gamescom to. If you are tired of walking around it's a good place to stop and try one of these relaxing chairs.

brands_razer.jpg
Razer usually has some goodies and Games to play with their accessories.

brands_discord.jpg
Discord is also present.

brands_stadia.jpg brands_youtube.jpg
Also present this year: Youtube Gaming and Google Stadia.

Then there are also some other brands that might not be directly associated with gaming:
brands_netflix.jpg brands_netflix2.jpg
Netflix showing their series and also had a Strange Things arcade game.
brands_mcdonals.jpg
And Obviously McDonalds showing their latest game... euh.. I mean, why are they here again?

Business area?
If you've been to Gamescom you might have noticed there is a section you are not allowed to enter: the business area.
So what would you find there? I'll show you:
business_countries.jpg
You will find a hall full of countries showing of their capabilities of making games. This one is from my country, the Netherlands (Holland).
business_unity.jpg
There are also brands you will probably know but they usually only work with appointments, so there is hardly anything to see except a logo and a desk.
business_devolverland.jpg
Devolverland, this looks pretty. The made the section you aren't allowed in look fun.
business_ea.jpg
EA is the worst offender, they have a complete section closed off and it has a bar and everything. Shame I can't come closer to show more.

business_steam.jpg
Steam. This was most I could see. They could have just rented a wall and fooled me.

business_amazon.jpg
Amazon has the lumberyard game engine and AWS to promote.

business_google.jpg
Google was there also in case you had to search something.

business_spongebox.jpg
Spongebob with his trusted friend from RDR?

business_squareenix.jpg
Square Enix was there also, they have two desk that I can't use.
