i was curious if it would be even pheesable(sp?) to port this over to the arm processor. i wish i was a good enough programmer to do this and have the knowlegde to port but i plan on waiting til i get my hands on my pandora before i go in depth into studing more programming then i know.

well i didnt know what freecnc was either until i found it on sourceforge, looks like it stands for Free Command And Conquer, its open source and in c++ and lua. now whether the pandora will be powerful enough i do not know, but it seems to meet some of the requirements, but all i see are snapshots for Download, has a version even been released yet?

and in case you didnt look at this before posting the thread

EDIT: after a little bit more looking it isnt a full game like i originally assumed, just a upgraded engine to run your C&C game, and yes it has been released, just not to sourceforge.

Hmm, I guess I do still have a login on these forums...

Anyway, there are several free red alert engines, basically freecnc and freera. However, another project took over their work (and is still being developed) and is called OpenRedAlert. You can find it here: http://code.google.com/p/openredalert/

I think it should work great because I'm pretty sure it's just SDL based. I can't wait...

Also, you're bound to also be interested in this http://ogta.fifengine.de/about.html a remake of the original GTA engine, although it is not finished and is written in OpenGL so would need to be ported to ES. Some of the screenshots are pretty cool, showing a much more 3D game than the original.

Also, both of these games work in DOS so you should be able to play them in a DOS box, albeit at very low res. OpenRedAlert looks quite promising.

OpenRedAlert will take some work, as the code has a bunch of alignment issues that cause problems on ARM platforms. I've spent some time fixing it for my Zaurus, but it's not nearly working yet.
