Ffplay Gui

I was disappointed to discover that the movie player app included with the 2.1.1 GPH firmware doesn't support .flv / Flash video / YouTube movie playback but thankfully we can still play flv on the 2x with ffplay! However, ffplay currently has a couple of problems.

The most pressing is its lack of a gui, which makes it very awkward to use for anyone who doesn't have a BoB and USB keyboard attached to their 2X. I'm sure adding a simple gui file selector would be a trivial task - any volunteers?

The second problem I found was that the picture when playing an .flv with ffplay through the TV-out was quite flickery- I have no such problems when using the official movie player.

It would be great to have another good movie player for the 2X!

I think you can use Selector to get it working without keyboard/telnet each time.

.flv support on GP2X would be great. :) So I don't need to convert all the .flv's on PC. Will fast forward and jumping to another point in video work? (doesn't even work on PC with VLC Player ^^"" )

Can't someone just build the entire mplayer with all the plugins for the gp2x instead of releasing a separate player for everything?

Well, at the very least, you could use gmenu2x's selector...
Good Idea. It should work nicely and even command-line-Noobs like me can use programms without GUI this way. :)

I see on the spanish forum (gp32spain) that Waninkoko is working on a player for the GP2x based on ffmpeg library with support for flv and many more.

i think if Waninkoko, ell (MP2x) and DJWillis (open2x) work together, we will see a great alternative player growing in little time ;)

I Didn't know about selector- thanks for pointing that out lithosphere

I finally got round to trying sterm today. Although its not ideal having to enter commands with the joystick + buttons it was still oddly exciting playing with a console on a console and its definately one of the coolest things to see on the 2X (for a Linux user anyway)

I look forward to seeing this ffmpeg gui become available / usable. ffmpeg whips!
