Just wondering, will Fenix be compatible with the GP2X right from the launch? Also if anyone can find me any Fenix language references or a list of the commands and what they do, I would really appreciate it. Thanks all.

You know... while we're on the topic of Fenix... could soemone just link me to a n00b friendly site about what on earth it is? I always hear about it but I've never known.

Please Include links when making port request. I hate wasting time using google. http://fenix.divsite.net/index.php?opcion=1&lang=en

The documentation is unsurprisingly available on this site, but doesn't seem very good. Fenix seems like a near dead project and I don't see much value in expending effort getting it ported. It doesn't exactly seem to have a huge following. The source code is available so a port maybe possible, but asking for it to be available from launch isn't realistic. If you can give some examples of games created with Fenix that you believe would make for good ports to the GP2X you might be able to get someone interested enough to get Fenix ported, but from the highly un-helpful post you've made so far, your not really going to attract any attention.

*All of this is written with having no experience with Fenix, it maybe great but I've never heard of it till now.

I think it's that Fenix was ported to GP32. So, chances are it'll be ported again to GP2X.

You don't know what you're talking about

Yep, you're right. You don't have the slightest idea.

Fenix isn't a dead project it's yeilded a great many enjoyable projects and people are currently still coding in it. Quiest's Minigame project is a fine example of why it'd be more than welcome on the GP2X.

I forgot: I'm almost 100% sure there will be a Fenix port for the GP2X from day 0. Chui will receive a devkit this week and he wants to port it.

Googling on Fenix doesn't give you a heck of alot - can anybody give me some links to projects using Fenix?

What appears to be the main website (the one I posted) has a lot of dead links, and doesn't appear to have been updated in over a year, hence my assumption the project was dead or at the least dieing. I'm not so arrogant to not recognize when I'm just making shit up based on 10 mins with google. :)

I'm curious on why something like ClanLib (http://www.clanlib.org/intro.html) doesn't get more attention?

You have but to check the file archive or DCemu to find a bunch of existing Fenix games. looking at Clanlib the first thing I see is "ClanLib is a cross platform C++ framework" Fenix is supposed to be a much less intensive language than straight up C++.

Since Chui is getting a devkit, does that mean that it will be available for download anywhere, or is it just the important developers getting it? Also what comes with the GP2X devkit? I mean what tools are there going to be to use?

Sorry to double post, but I forgot to ask this: Is there anywhere that has the full list of Fenix functions, and that explains what they do and how to use them? Coming from using other game programming softwares, I understand what most of this stuff does, but it would be helpful to have an explanation of how it works. Im not just gonna type in GRAPHIC_INFO and expect it to do what I want. BTW thanks for that link DijiTao, it really helps. Thanks much to anyone who can give me this stuff. Kinda hard to find lol.

Ok, this is just shocking IMHO. I'm just a n00b here and even I've heard of the great stuff some amateur homebrewers are doing with Fenix on GP32.

I mean, there is a Fenix dev board on this forum for gawds sake!

Do I need to post a link to that, or do ya'll think maybe you can find that yourselves? :p

There was even an excellent site with lots of Fenix info announced on the main page of gp32x just days ago. Fenix on Fire http://fenixonfire.gp32x.de/

Wake up and smell the flames, sheesh.
